Prose wasn't invented until hundreds of years after poetry was written down (why write it out if it's not poetry?), once the Athenians started publishing their court speeches, but the latest fad of "movies based on poems" is why we don't yet have a Cinematic Universe of J. Alfred Prufrock.
speaking of, when we getting the epic of gilgamesh on the screen?
2 years from now, the cinematic universe will call for an Enkidu movie and Ea-Nasir's revenge.

I was actually feeling sad about never being able to hear what were no doubt big prehistorical songs. Like what melodies were going around multiple caves?
It isn't quite the same. But we sorta know how the Hurrian hymns go. Which I think is really cool. Almost 4000 year old songs, and you can sorta sing along.
