Get out if you can.

If not, get a rifle and start learning to fly drones.

They know they’re fucking cooked in the midterms and probably 2028. The closer they are to losing power the more dangerous they’re going to get.

We should all be prepared for violence and for a long struggle against these fucks.

Cute... they will simply "win" massively in the midterms, no matter the actual votes. Then the media will publish totally ridiculous stories "analyzing" the reasons. And the complacent population will majorily accept it.

Yes, be prepared for violence if you believe and want to defend democacy. but don't fool yourself into believing that you won't be mostly alone.

Maybe but how about you ease it on the doom and gloom and those of us that can do something do what we can

[-] Ooops@feddit.org 1 points 4 weeks ago

When talk about what will very probably happen is already overwhelming you with doom and gloom then I don't want to guess your reaction to the actual reality of it happening.

Sorry that I have to tell you, but right now you can still learn to cope, prepare and accept what will happen. Getting surprised by reality because even now you can't handle it without a lot of unfounded optimism will be a much harsher awakening.

Maybe, but history is full of populations that were pretty docile... Until they weren't.

I've personally seen how patience and complacency in a supremely calm individual can evaporate when things are tight. People who are always careful and taking care of the long term abandoning all of that if they feel desperate in a situation.

If the ballot box doesn't work as promised by the existing social contract, that will be the last straw for some people. Particularly if asshats like Stephen Miller keep up the violent rhetoric about exactly how terrible they want to be to any dissenters. That's a lot of fear, rage, and impotence for folks to get hit with, and it has a much higher risk of bubbling over than you would imagine.

I'll confess to thinking I'm personally unlikely to risk things, but other people have surprised me

Exactly. Remember '24 felt off? They fucking took that shit with Vlad and Elon's help. Why would they not rig '26?

The reddit defeatists are here.

If you want to give up, go do that somewhere silently. Because when you post online about how there is no hope and all is lost, you sound like a propoganda bot.

[-] Ooops@feddit.org 0 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Telling people all is well, elections will turn out great, they don't need to do anything, and -most importantly!- they don't need to be prepared for any actual kind of resistence, because the fascist regime taking over the US will totally not cheat, lie and break laws to stay in power is the sane thing to do now.

And people actually warning that you need to be prepared for action and can't hope that a big majority will solve the issues for you are the defeatists and propaganda bots.

That doesn't make any kind of sense.

Seriously... have you never thought about actually questioning the updated storylines when your troll farm gets new orders once? Or have you just given up on any standards by now reasoning that enough people are now so close to brain dead that just screaming some idiotic lie often enough will make it real?

Sure... being prepared to defend democracy is defeatism. And war is peace, freedom is slavery [...]. You idiots really took a dire warning and made it your manual.
