Well no, the issue is the kids being exempt from reading them as part of a lesson or from being read to during story-time. They aren’t saying the books must be physically removed.

The main takeaways here are:

The justices, in a 6-3 vote along ideological lines, said that in most cases, judges can only grant relief to the parties who brought a particular lawsuit and may not extend those decisions to protect other individuals without going through the process of converting a suit into a class action.

The court did not rule on the legality of Trump’s order purporting to end birthright citizenship, although the three liberal justices said the president’s directive was clearly unlawful.

So, the plaintiffs will need to certify as a class in order for judges to issue nationwide injunctions now. That's a pretty huge shift.

There’s also 1 million more people than in 1989 and (I think?) a larger portion of NYCers are registered dems now. So that’s not actually that good. We should break turnout records every year if our population grows.

The problem is, unlike most people realize, astroturfing is rarely sourced from shill accounts like it used to be. Nor are high-karma accounts being purchased.

The issue is bots and shill accounts manipulate vote counts of posts/comments with certain positions. So, you don’t tell the difference, unless you find a way to track who is voting on Reddit content.

Why would the US arm people who hate us?

Wait, which time?

Remember all those ads about Kamala Harris being soft on crime?

Then remember how Trump won and pardoned a bunch of violent criminals?

Do not advocate or celebrate violence, please. Comments advocating violence will be deleted and bans will be issued.

Also, please avoid promoting conspiracies. Discussing current events is fine but suggesting things like “it’s a false flag” without evidence is spreading a conspiracy.

This is what companies that actually care about privacy do. People over profits

Edit: actually, I’m not quite that naive, there’s certainly a business motive here. Cut the dead weight before it drags you down. Still, a good move nonetheless

Food for thought: Lemmy instance admins probably can’t afford $800 an hour corporate attorneys to fight off subpoenas.

Taking from my comment on the other community where you posted this:

Biden asked for one and reported Netanyahu said no.

The headline sounds like he’s just dismissing his staffers

In an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Shapiro said everyone who goes to the Department of Motor Vehicles to get a new or renewed driver’s license will be automatically registered to vote, unless the individual chooses to opt out.

That’s not quite automatic, but still a great step
