On this day in 1969, the Cordobazo Uprising began in the city of Córdoba, Argentina as a general strike, with workers seizing the city, burning the corporate headquarters of Citroën and Xerox, and clashing with the army.

The rebellion took place under the military dictatorship of General Juan Carlos Onganía, who had seized power in a coup in 1966. Onganía's government had suspended the right to strike, froze workers' wages, suppressed communist movements, and extended the age of retirement.

In the wake of widespread violent state repression against protesters, the labor union "CGT de los Argentinos", led by Agustín Tosco, called for national strike on May 30th, 1969. In Cordoba, the general strike and protests began one day earlier.

On the first day of the protests, police opened fire on thousands of protesters, killing a worker named Maximo Mena, causing the strike to escalate into a citywide revolt, leading to widespread destruction of property and seizing of city spaces. Onganía crushed the rebellion with the military, and Agustín Tosco was arrested for his role in the rebellion.

goddamn I'm so beyond tired of listening to people in the FGC talk about age, these people act like the microsecond you turn 26 you're 3/4 of the way dead, even while watching people in their late 30s/mid-early 40s place top 8 at tournaments over and over and over

I think in general I'm just very weary of hearing people spout their baseless misconceptions and then just parrot them back at each other endlessly

very, very weary

I've had this exact thought.

My little sister was scared of turning 20 because to her that meant she was now old lol. It's way beyond games.

When I turned 30 I barely noticed, they tried to tease me about it but it really didn't bother me. Weird generational thing

I hate it, people are so weird about it. Meanwhile I'm trying to enjoy growing older, maturing, discovering new interests and foods and learning new things - growing older is the goal and a whole lot of people don't get to do it.

So, it's endlessly jarring to hear people complain about it so much.

I picked up games way faster when younger, but I don't doubt that I could do it with a current game if I wanted to devote the time to grind. Usually, I hop on a game for season 1, get OK at it, then they patch something and I just go back to MVC2

People like Wong, Valle, Daigo etc. prove it's not age, it's the ability to read the opponent.

Yeah, I mean I don't know if you saw but Itabashi just got 2nd at Combo Breaker last weekend, taking out many much younger killers along the way, and the dude is 44. But will people stop joking about being too old to play the game when you're 14+ years younger than that? Nope.
