I think two things are at play
1: The folk hero stuff is clearly just memes. I don’t think anyone here genuinely thinks there’s a movement to be built around the guy. But it’s the internet and it’s basically the main way we know how to engage in things.
2: the act itself separate from the perpetrator is just cathartic and something to rally behind. It could have been anyone doing it and people would have been like “well at least a ceo got shot.” For sure everyone would prefer it have happened for ideological reasons that align with our sensibilities but it’s one of those things where the situation represents more than the person involved
For sure, I get those things. People are excited by that catharsis, especially since there's been few opportunities to feel a real W in recent years. That being said, I don't think it's productive for people here to be getting on each other's case about Based Shooter? Cringe shooter? Are you a liberal for dismissing propaganda of the deed? etc etc.
If we're not pretending that cops are always 100% trustworthy (to call back to btfod's comment) then this should also apply to the notion that Luigi is the shooter. If we're not sure that Luigi is the shooter, then we should probably exercise some restraint here.
Yea I don’t think it’s worth blowing out of proportion anymore than to the level I kinda gave it in my last comment. He’s a goober who fell ass backwards into something in and of itself is kinda based ig, may or may not even be the shooter, whatever lol
Tbh maybe I’m missing stuff but I’ve only seen a few people really getting up and arms about it and they’re relatively new accounts so take that for what it is.
the only things I'm sure of are not to trust the cops, and to be gracious with everyone else. restraint seems prudent, I agree.
