Toyosatomimi no Miko is a character in the Touhou Project series introduced in its 13th installment, Ten Desires.
Miko was once Prince Shoutoku, a Japanese leader in the 600s known for promoting Buddhism and streamlining the Japanese government. In the Touhou lore, she was visited by Taoist hermit Seiga Kaku, who had heard about Mikoβs longing for immortality. Seiga introduced her to Taoism, but she rejected it as a religion unfit for placating an entire country. She was intrigued by its promise of immortality, however, and privately converted to it, advocating for Buddhism to keep Japan stable. After drinking an βimmortality elixirβ (mercury sulfide), however, she was forced to let go of her body and become a supernatural hermit like Seiga, notably taking on the form of a woman, making her a canonically trans character ().
After convincing a hermit from a rival clan (Mononobe no Futo) to sleep without decaying, Miko followed in suit, waiting for a time where a Taoist Japan would revive her in search of guidance. However, Buddhist monks were able to keep her mausoleum sealed, and the legends surrounding her were slowly brushed off- which led to her transportation into Gensokyo, where the folklore of old is a reality of everyday life.
When she awoke in Gensokyo, it was right after Buddhist monk Byakuren Hijiri opened her own temple, however, leading to a surge of divine spirits across the realm, setting up the events of Ten Desires.
What look like headphones on her are canonically earmuffs- Shoutoku was allegedly able to discern between ten questions asked at once, an ability carried by Miko (although with her enhanced abilities, she can also analyze each person and determine their inner desires (thus the title of the game))- although it means her hearing is highly sensitive and has to be muffled to prevent pain.

Wayhaven no spoilers
Wayhaven Book Two:I keep actually voicing my concerns and stuff in dialogue when I can, because I have a bunch of reservations about Farah even though she's pretty and I like her scarf habit. Like when she said she enjoyed staying at mine, I was like "
Are you sure?" because she did not seem overjoyed that I filled my apartment with old MIPS desktops and spare amplifiers and shit. She says:
I really do appreciate that the game is ready to roll with the punches organically whenever I don't play a Blushing Bottom in a given scene. It makes it feel more natural, like yes I fold for beautiful vampires
but I also desire to go back and forth and jab sometimes, and I'm sometimes obnoxiously strong-willed. I like that the author prepped for this, it's not like Mass Effect or whatever where Paragon and Renegade feel like two different people. Even if I have had enough of Bobby's disingenuous assertions
same, i really like that the game doesn't seem to have "right" or "wrong" answers for the more romance things (as far as i can tell?? i'm generally Blushing Bottom tbh but i've gone outside it a bit) like a lot of social sim games do
Yeah it's great, it's more about what type of person you wanna be in the relationship. I'm a huge fan.
100%, i am not sure yet if i'm going to go back and date Nat(e) or Farah in a second playthrough
Nat has all the books
god i wish that were me
calling Morgan sunshine every chance you can, no matter how much her top energy makes me melt
i think i did it once, haha it was a good time
i love how Farah just about dies, it's good (the one about running full power even during daytime)
take that you stupid sexy meanie of a bloodsucker
also f Bobby I simultaneously hate and love that I chose that he is a shitty ex in my playthrough
book 1 spoilers
depending on the going to a bar or staying in choice in book 1 she can be real fucking annoying or just normal level of a fucking bitchoh! i did not know their gender could change too, how interesting, I don't even remember what I chose there
when you choose to be attracted to a certain gender all the romantic interests(even exes like that reporter fuck) change genders to reflect this.
if you choose pan A and N are male as is Bobby
ok further questions: are there other romantic interests other than the vampires and (ugh) the reporter?
there's something one sided in book 2, and book 4 has a romance if you arent with anyone yet, otherwise it's probably one sided too. going by the first 2 chapters of the demo anyway.
also bobby isnt a full romance s(he) is just a stick stuck in the gears
wait, there's a book 4??? i got the steam bundle, maybe it didn't include them all? i stopped reading in book 3 because i hate running out of thiings to read but i need to look into this
book 4 is in... well alpha i guess, theres no release date yet, only 2 chapters polished enough to be read
ah i see
it is one of the best things about ditching the point system, you can response in more ways than just "flirty top" or "blushing bottom", and it makes the whole thing just flow really nicely
I don't wanna think about points systems in my dialogue when I'm tryna get kissed
point systems are banned starting now...
