Finished customizing a purple laptop bag with some patches and lace. It's pretty gothy — I put two hand-stenciled patches on there, one of a coffin (because why not) and one of Strange Boutique, which is one of my favorite goth bands (they're a late-80s early-90s band that's imo super underrated, the lead singer also went on to form Faith and the Muse which is another one of my favorite goth bands.) The other patches were cut from a velvet dress that was too small for me, some plaid sleeves that I cut off one of my favorite flannels, and this sheer black scarf-y scrap of fabric that I pilfered from my old college's scrap fabric bin. There's also a velvet bat on there because why not. Anyways I'm excited to bring this bag to school, it's going to be fun. But oh my god, sewing through this bag was Not Fun.
Hell yeah! I like making patches but I never know where to put them. My laptop goes in my backpack that is too colorful and perfect for patches. Pants - it’s weird and I’m scared it won’t go well. I have a bag with with an anarchist patch and ‘grandson’ (musical artist) patch and the bag itself is kinda poor quality, while those took forever to put on :/.
Honestly I just put patches on everything, I'm of the opinion that patches can make anything look fun. But for stuff that's classic, what about a jacket?
I have a couple blazers and rain jackets, I don’t think that’s ideal. I have like flannels and stuff idk. It’s probably irrational but I feel like it doesn’t fit my other clothes well enough, and I’m scared of being unoriginal for some reason.
I have a blazer custom I'm planning to work on, I've definitely seen some really awesome customized blazers and flannels. That being said ultimately it's your clothes, you can always make patches for your friends if you're not interested in using them yourself.
True. I could probably make something cool, I just have a general fear of wasting things.
Patches, pins and stickers!
