I've been growing out my hair from a denial buzz cut for about 7 months (obviously for trans reasons).
My mom (who I think would be accepting but I'm not ready to come out to yet) has suggested I get a haircut. To be fair, it's not a bad idea since my hairstyle is currently just fluff, and I can't keep up the rejecting after having kept it short my whole life while also having no clue about the hairstyle I actually want (how am I supposed to pick something that isn't genderfuckery?)
What kind of style can I get at a barber (not outing myself obviously) with wavy/curly hair that I can still use to boymode as a college student that also allows me to keep growing some length?
Sorry for dumping this, don't know anywhere else to ask π₯Ί
There are guys with long hair too though so it's like less of a "red flag" to cis people, more the styling. But if it's just growing it out longish, curls for cis guys is still a pretty common sight.
Yeah, thankfully this is the case. I just literally don't know how I want to style it (because my real answers aren't very cis), hence the question
Yeah I cut my own hair and I'm not that knowledgeable about the correct names of styles, but hopefully you'll get a few options here c:
Literally same boat, but for straight hair. Hope you can figure something out.
I honestly never knew my hair wasn't straight because I'd never had it long enough to know otherwise (sounds familiar...). AFAIK now there's not much straight about me ( Ν‘Β° ΝΚ Ν‘Β°)
Same! Just curious, do you know how to take care of curly hair? I had to relearn my entire hair care routine and styling tech when I found out
I don't exactly know how to take care of hair in general (being a "guy" doesn't exactly help) but my mom at least got me combs that are meant for curlier hair now that we've found this out. She's definitely the parent my brother and I inherited it from (although I just never thought about it because she uses a flat iron)
There was some discussion on curly hair here the other day, specifically about oils and how to care for your hair linky
I grew my hair down to my chin in school.. I got called gay but then I grew it longer anyway.
Can go with messy style with short sides? can also tie it up in a short bun when it gets longer
Hmmm, the problem with this one is that my younger brother is doing something similar but the back is really short too like the sides, like you might see in an image search for that. I'm not opposed to the style, but is there a way to pull it off without losing the length?
You could ask to have the sides and back done with a longer guard to begin with and just let your hair grow out a bit that way?
Just seconding that if you want to keep your length you should find a salon or hairstylist instead of a barber. Iβve had multiple bad experiences with barbers just being incapable of not cutting my hair short
Also, if youβre worried about outing yourself I went to hairdressers for years before transitioning and no-one said anything
I'd search curly shag or curly wolf cut styles and save any images that you think would fit with your face shape and features to show your stylist. Also if possible, this might be a good time to find a salon/hairdresser that you like. You'll have better results with your haircut at a salon vs a barber
I really appreciate the tip but unfortunately it won't really be relevant in my current situation, since I can't exactly act on it without outing myself.
I'm already aware of https://strandsfortrans.org and probably would try somewhere they endorse when that time comes
Lame. Buzz cuts should be butch or brightly colored Imo.
Being an egg is incredibly comedic and lame
Yeah
