I disagree the 1985 adaptation is the most pure as it has Patrick Stewart cradling a pug while blasting Harkonnen scum

Just watched dune 2 and yeah I'm gonna say I like lynch more. Read the books several times. I like the new visuals but ffs the dialogue the casting the choices are so childish imho. At least lynch just decided let's be crazy lol

The concept art from Jadorowski is also pretty awesome and is even more extreme than the Lynch designs, and tbh I feel Dune should have been far weirder given it's so far out in the future. The only thing I kinda like is the Harkonnen design making them look like mole people (then again Jadorowski wanted Feyd Rautha to more or less be like a future style David Bowie which would have rocked on the big screen).

Oh 100% behind Jadorowski . I wish they had been able to pull of the Mobius version in the 70s that would have been the best

The new movies were questionable for me. On one side they cut off many important scenes and major characters (Piter de Vries was shown for like a minute totasl, but wasn't even mentioned by name!) to put some minor character development and many sand scenes, but on the other they inserted many things that might been in the book but were only introduced partially in Messiah because during writing book 1 F.H. did not yet thought of it.

EDIT: Ultimately, the thing to do is to watch all three versions. Each of them have some strong and some weak points and all three complement themselves to make pretty much complete picture. And also infinite nerd discussion potential.
