Conservatives seem to be on the wrong side of every single issue.

Yeah the piefed UI in a browser is perfectly fine.

The Strait isn't "blocked" as in a physical mine field. They can allow boats through as they wish.

If you get stopped by the police because you're driving too fast or driving erratically, is there any chance they would draw their firearm during that interaction, even if they dont point it at you?

Thanks.

You're probably right but there's several other metal posts so I dont want this one to be significantly different.

Thanks for your input on the angle brackets. That seems sensible, theyre not load bearing.

Nah.

Citizens have e always been held accountable for the acts and behaviour of their nation.

For example, if a single IDF soldier had raped or murdered a Palestinian, and the IDF had a trial and punished them appropriately, then perhaps an Israeli is not accountable for that

However when a country perpetuates a campaign of genocide, you cant really expect a free pass as a conscientious objector. The abuse of Palestinians is so deeply embedded in Israeli culture - soldiers sharing photos of the victims of their abuse is a celebrated daily occurrence.

In Australia for example our indigenous first Australians were abused by European settlers. That was mostly before I was born, but my generation is still held to account.

The thing about good scams is that they exist in the grey area between fraud and real services.

Almost every answer in this thread is an example of this. Insurance for example - this is when you pay someone else to take responsibility for a risk. The modern economy couldn't exist without it. However, there are plenty of insurance policies which don't provide much value and are more like fraud than a real service.

Forgive me if some of the details are a little off, happy to be corrected, but:

  • the first attempt during the campaign was almost certainly fake.
  • barbie lady said something about "shots fired" a few hours before the incident, as though she had misunderstood something in the group chat.
  • last week a judge said the only basis on which Trump could build the Ballroom was over security concerns.
  • moments after the incident Trump said that they need the Ballroom because of security concerns at the WH.
  • the photos do look pathetically staged, although the videos less-so.

I used to be ambivalent to Israel but for fuck sake they just seem like a collection of the most awful people on the planet. Regardless of their history i feel like they deserve to have their entire country blockaded and obliterated to dust.

Even setting aside America's bullshit Medical industry, yanks have really weird ideas about freedom.

As an Australian the American concept of freedom always seemed nuts, even pre-Trump. Yes American's have the freedom to carry firearms, but I much prefer the Australian freedom to live without fear of being shot.

I can replace this rusted post but before I do I have questions!

This is the context:

9bjEpLJ38i3Yw3M.jpg

This construction is about 30 years old. I live in a coastal city so there's plenty of salt in the rain. The ground level was level with the place it's rusted through completely. However, it was probably painted down to that level and no further. My assumption is that it's galvanised steel, but only because that's what's commonly used for this type of construction.

Firstly I just want to confirm that this is likely to be caused simply by being in the ground for 30 years. It's possible that in the past there was water ingress through the screw holes in the roof panels. I had someone replace those fixtures 4 years ago, so those seals are new.

My second question is, am I supposed to use some sort of footing to avoid the same thing happening again in another 20 years ? Should it be in some kind of stirrup like this or are these only for timber:

My third question is, the current top plate / bracket is custom made with welded parts. I don't have a welder nor any experience with that. Should I expect to find a purpose built standard top plate from wherever I buy the post? I could use 3x right angle brackets but that just doesn't feel like the right approach. Presently it looks like this:

Thanks!

I keep a lot of notes in markdown files, and I'd like an LLM to assist.

I regularly use Open WebUI with with inference routed through huggingface. Open WebUI kind of has this functionality like you can upload a markdown file and prompt it to improve it in whatever way, but of course that's a fairly clunky workflow.

I really want something built into the editor, that can use RAG to consider other files in context.

I also don't want to be locked in to a specific LLM or provider, I'd like to be able to link it to OpenRouter or similar.

Looking for options to send SMS from Gnome desktop.

I've been using google's browser based app, but obviously would like to use something that is not google dependent.

I've tried gsconnect. I need to give it a good go but my initial findings are disappointing. If this is what others are doing then I'll stick with it.

I thought there would be some way to view the android ui from my phone, on my gnome desktop but that doesn't seem to be a thing.

They host a bunch of services including a lemmy instance.

The admin is @povoq@slrpnk.net

All their services seem to be down?
