Can't wait for Bettman to introduce a new rule on May 4th that results in the Canucks drafting 16th or so.

No, the point isn't that we shouldn't complain, just it is good to keep perspective. (And a man can dream that if we kept that perspective, more of us would try to buy non sweatshop crap.)

Some lyrics (and why I love folk punk, even if this particular artist turned out to be, like so many, a jerk):

Always think about the things you buy and where they're from and how they're made
Always try to keep in mind that your privilege comes on the backs of slaves

This band is an absolute blast, if you ever get the opportunity to see them I would recommend not squandering it.

I'm working on it. Maybe. Well, one day. Like when other Left of centre, anti trump, anti corpo type folks oppose the things I oppose in correct manner and degree, duh.

What am I gonna do, start a war in the Middle East? Come on, I got more sense than that...

Yeah, I remember starting a war in the Middle East. Fuck yo Middle East!

(For those too young to remember the skit, google Dave Chappelle Rick James and enjoy!)

I keep seeing this on tv, had assumed it was a junior tournament but then saw Naylor playing and he's one of the handful of baseball folks I know. So unless things have gone really badly for him over the summer...

How do teams decide "yeah, they can play in that" versus "they need to play our spring training" ? Also, why the heck is Puerto Rico its own team?

I tried some googling but didn't get much there. Cheers yall!

"She has been named Kara by researchers, who are thrilled to see her in northern waters. "

To each their own, I'm going to remember every line of this article next time I'm surfing in Tofino... (Admittedly, I'm terrified of water monsters anyway.)

Was hoping for enough snow to take my friend's kid sledding but will settle for a few morning ski sessions (sans kid) while the cold lasts!

Gorgeous lil pixel art based game by a French developer (so yay, non American!) basically a modern Heroes of Might and Magic 2. I spent a lot of time just zooming at the world map and looking at things, all of which are beautiful pixel art.

Anyway, it's been going on sale and I figured folks in this community might appreciate it!

Apologies if stuff like this isn't the idea of the sub but I wanted to share.

It's like the US only realized the cost of trump's bullshit after the fact.

NATO made European nuclear ambitions less essential and thus helped reduce nuclear proliferation. When the US threatens that alliance and shows itself to be completely unreliable (does anyone expect donald to launch nukes in defence of Europe?) Then Europe is almost forced to get a European nuclear deterrent.

In the meantime, thank fuck for Charles deGaulle.

Absolutely important to keep boycotting, even if things go back to "normal" if only to show that this stupidity has real world costs.

Admittedly, if I had slaves, I think I'd be pretty worried about weapons just lying around...

"Yes, we've contemplated military force but to hit us where it hurts? That's just rude!"

I uhhh, just loaded Mint the other week. Any chance someone can English this for me?

Complete societal collapse, hard to say what, beyond the basics, would be useful as a medium of barter.

But, in a society facing major issues, e.g., hyper inflation, or say, a US government default, yeah, gold is a pretty decent hedge bet.

The traditional safe haven has been government debt but that's been seen as an increasingly risky bet where you could lose a lot of money to inflation or worse, government default/intervention.

So, while not ideal, gold at least seems a better bet than most other "safe" places to put one's money.

Credit where credit is due, that 90 billion is from a decline in total international tourism to the US. Canada makes up almost a third of that but this is a global effort! So, thanks to all you good people across the world!

I love the texts that are clearly just anon's personal fantasy.

[-] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 52 points 5 months ago

It's a major plot point. Brawndo, the Thirst Mutilator, has been put into almost everything in place of water ("water, like from the toiler?") And consequently kills the crops.

When have you ever heard someone say they'd be fine with their son being a harasser?

[-] MyBrainHurts@piefed.ca 52 points 7 months ago

So it took that dumb fuck 9 months to realize that Putin's the bad guy, Ukraine isn't to blame for being invaded and that Western support could win this war?

Imagine how many lives would have been saved if he'd just listened to every goddamn adult in the previous administration.
