How are you going to convince hundreds of communists in New York to do entryism in the fucking NYPD?
fuck Bernie
Obligatory for reasons of theory, but let's not pretend we all wouldn't have felt warm and fuzzy inside the day he won
"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say we are tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining."
I'm going to post my reddit comment replying to a discussion about how Lenin's critique of adventurism applies in this situation, because I think it sums up my thoughts pretty well:
Lenin was critiquing socialists engaging in adventurism, who should know better. If this dude were in the PSL or something, the party would be in the uncomfortable position of needing to publicly distance themselves from him if they want to maintain a disciplined ideology rooted in democratic centralism. But the fact that this was some tech bro who had to face the material conditions of the health insurance industry and organically gravitated toward an adventurist strategy-- that's something else entirely. That's a barometer of class malcontent in the general population, and it seems to be off the charts at the moment
Isn't the US, the UAE and Saudi Arabia openly planning to install a Palestinian emirate loyal to the west? That's their idea of a "Palestinian state" and yeah no shit the left is opposed to that
The fact that the USSR accepted the moon landing is a pretty strong peice of evidence that it was real. They had some of the best astronomers and rocket scientists in the world, and every political incentive to make the US look bad. They had too much integrity though, I can see the Russian capitalist regime questioning the moon landing regardless of the evidence, just to see if it would stick. Maybe the USSR would still be around if it played dirtier like that
Joe's getting a posthumous Emmy for this one, no one could have better embodied the collapse of a dying empire
The average person is conflict avoidant and terrible at negotiating. In general life, this is even a virtue. But it's bad for revolutions. Get more comfortable being stubborn, people
I got into an argument with someone who was defending the American dream because their parents came here with "nothing" from a poor country and were able to become respected Ivy League professors
Their parents had advanced degrees, for free, from the USSR
For context, tens of millions of people being wiped out by famine was something that happened every couple of decades in China. What makes the famine under Mao notable was that it was the last famine China ever had, thanks in large part to the comprehensive revolution mentioned above, which allowed the state to pursue long term policies that benefitted the whole society instead of the wealthy class

I feel like he's the best possible version of a DSA social democrat. He's also really good at cable news interviews in a way that you almost never see. His ideology and demeanor actually reminds me a lot of Michael Brooks who had also planned on running for office in New York, and Brooks was fundamental in my radicalization
