Zohran will win the general, short of killing him there's nothing they can do to stop him

Once your enemies start out the gate with "terrorist" and "communist" and you still win with 12% and 2/3 of ranked choice votes, there's nowhere to go but up

The establishment left the door open by accident and incompetence, they're gonna regret this for a generation

Zohran will win the general, short of killing him there's nothing they can do to stop him

i mean the current plan looks like they're going to make up some bs to de-naturalize and then deport him

[-] [email protected] 42 points 22 hours ago

If Zohran has any sense and is "hiding his power level" even a tiny amount, he needs an armed guard of committed socialists like yesterday to prevent this exact scenario from happening. If deporting him is at all hard for ICE to do without making it into a big public Incident, they'll have to come up with some other shenanigans unless they want riots in NYC.

[-] [email protected] 30 points 22 hours ago

Yeah you honestly just need to be able to delay it enough to make it a large scene. I don’t think the residents of New York City will allow ICE to take him. A few million people all focused on making sure your goons can’t kidnap one specific figure would make things very difficult

[-] [email protected] 13 points 21 hours ago

People who know people who would know have confirmed to me that he does have a security detail.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 21 hours ago

But can that security detail be bought? If you're a high profile socialist, you need committed socialists as security.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 21 hours ago

From allied universal or from personal allies?

[-] [email protected] 1 points 6 hours ago

It would be pretty fucking embarrassing if they trusted Allied instead of training some long-time trusted comrades.

i dont really disagree but who though? FRSO seems like an org that would be willing, and maybe even able with how secretive they seem to be, but they're tiny from what i can tell and i'd be very surprised if they want to bring down the state on their head for a DSA member. PSL might have the size (no clue what their new york chapter is like though), but i have seen nothing to suggest that they have any sort of armed wing/training and seem very unwilling to do so, at least from all the protests i've seen. CPUSA are the biggest fraud sheepdog of the democrats of all time, and if DSA (and especially NY DSA) ever provide armed socialists to anyone anywhere i might have a heart attack and die on the spot in shock. who's even left? IMT/RevCom? too busy selling news papers. SRA? it honestly isnt a real org and is pretty small anyways. only other org i can think of is john brown gun club tbh lol

[-] [email protected] 19 points 21 hours ago

Dual power, Zohran has to build it himself tbh. He's the new mayor in all but name, if he wants to enact his agenda he's going to need to take on the biggest gang that actually runs NYC, which is the NYPD. He's gonna need goons for that. If he's got any brains and is actually serious about enacting an even remotely socialist agenda he needs armed goons like a supervillain, and they've gotta be loyal to him. I don't think you'd be able to get an org to do this.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 21 hours ago

i mean in this scenario they deport him before he even gets to run for general election he doesnt have time to do this

[-] [email protected] 14 points 21 hours ago

I mean he's got time to build an ideologically committed security detail like right now. None of that is dependent on him being mayor.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 22 hours ago
[-] [email protected] 18 points 22 hours ago

it's just a turn of phrase, like he needs it so badly it should have been done yesterday instead of today

[-] [email protected] 16 points 22 hours ago

OH, given the state of things I thought armed SRA members confronted ICE or something and I missed it lol.

[-] [email protected] 17 points 22 hours ago

lol if armed socialists got into a full on confrontation with ice the news mega would have easily over a 1k comments, you'll know

[-] [email protected] 13 points 21 hours ago

If armed socialists in the United States got into a full confrontation with ICE I think you'd know because this site would probably be shut down by the FBI lol

Zohran has the mandate of heaven

[-] [email protected] 40 points 1 day ago

He also got more votes in the first round than anyone got in all rounds. Of course the demonrat party hates him and will probably make him lose somehow.

[-] [email protected] 34 points 1 day ago

Time to reach across the aisle and vote for a republican

[-] [email protected] 40 points 23 hours ago

I really hope everyone everywhere who unfortunately has liberals in their life makes sure to constantly point out the incessant and desperate attempts at ratfucking and how weirdly coincidental that the democrats only and always do this when it's an actual left wing candidate, but those exact same people expect us to support their right wing ghouls "to beat the republicans"

[-] [email protected] 25 points 22 hours ago

Yeah weird how they can all of a sudden rally to remove Jill Stein off the ballot or prevent someone from becoming mayor of New York, but they can't remove Trump from office for literally any reason 🤔

Democrats: "This is terrible."

[-] [email protected] 13 points 21 hours ago

His victory would make him the second Socialist mayor ever in the state of New York.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

Both recent ones have been DSA members and both in the past 40 years

[-] [email protected] 4 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

I stand corrected. He would be the fifth Socialist Mayor in the state of New York. The first was from the now defunct Socialist Party USA in 1911.

[-] [email protected] 3 points 10 hours ago

Who are the others, besides La Guardia?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 5 hours ago

George Lunn from Schnectady, John Gibbons from Lackawanna, Ben Nichols from Ithaca and David Dinkins from NYC.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

Thanks, comrade.

Wonder how spread out their terms were, and the period context.

That Dinkins really ran as a socialist - and won - is blowing my mind. That’s the late 80’s hellscape.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 10 minutes ago

George Lunn: 1911-1913 would later turn Dem, winning mayorship for two more terms and eventually Congressional rep and Lieutenant governor.

John Gibbons: 1920-1922 Was elected during the height of a steel strike in the rust belt where he was from

Ben Nichols: 1989-1995 Pretty impressive he did well during the fall of the USSR. Was even fighting for gay rights at a time when it wasn’t okay.

You seem to already know about Dinkins but he’s an oddball of the bunch. He never seemed to back away from being a member of the DSA and did organize some Socialist meetings before becoming mayor. It never came up during his run though and the race was featured more on racial lines. This came during the NYC crime crisis and with Rodney King still in peoples memory. He would eventually lose to Giuliani after one term.

[-] [email protected] 40 points 22 hours ago

As someone who has been in several of the struggle sessions around him, I don't think he's the second coming of Lenin, but from what I've heard about his plans for NY, I generally think his position will be useful as long as attempts to implement them occur. He'll either get them through, which I think would increase leftward support, or he'll get ratfucked in the most blatant manner possible. Both are useful for agitprop. The only thing that would be a net negative, in my opinion, would be bending the knee.

From some of the vids I have seen come from him, it does seem like he's already planned around getting ratfucked to some degree when attempting to implement change and use it for agitation, but frankly, I've been busy, so I haven't consumed enough to take a hardened stance.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 16 hours ago

I feel like he's the best possible version of a DSA social democrat. He's also really good at cable news interviews in a way that you almost never see. His ideology and demeanor actually reminds me a lot of Michael Brooks who had also planned on running for office in New York, and Brooks was fundamental in my radicalization

[-] [email protected] 32 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

I worked on the campaign and can tell you with certainty that he has been prepared for resistance and ratfuckery all of the way

[-] [email protected] 15 points 22 hours ago

Tell him he rocks. And to clone himself and send us a cowboy Zohran.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 16 hours ago

There are a million cowboy Zohrans for those with eyes to see them

[-] [email protected] 11 points 21 hours ago

When are the Zohran Fedayeen sign ups coming for New Yorkers? Only somewhat kidding.

[-] [email protected] 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

If you volunteer for the campaign enough you can def recommend some merch ideas and it will be considered. Just saying

[-] [email protected] 16 points 22 hours ago

/gen is he prepared for them to bring the full violence of the state down upon him??

[-] [email protected] 10 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

There has been discussion on detainment long before today’s Trump statement on denaturalization and deportation of Zohran

[-] [email protected] 13 points 22 hours ago* (last edited 22 hours ago)

I think Mamdani is the 2nd coming of Lenin buddy-christ ....jk. Unless thinking-about-it

“For every brunch lib we lose in Williamsburg, we’ll pick up two non-voters struggling with rent in Queens!”

[-] [email protected] 19 points 21 hours ago

Not to take away from the bit (more to get it dialed in so we can use it for the next 5 months) but wasn't Williamsburg a blowout for Zohran?

[-] [email protected] 15 points 16 hours ago

Yeah Williamsburg was a total blowout. The bastion of brunch libs is the Upper East Side, that went heavily to Cuomo.

[-] [email protected] 12 points 16 hours ago

Thanks I'll start practicing the line accordingly
