Her. It’s her head that might go off next. For Trump is just Monday.

Worried about losing unified Republican power in Washington and mystified at his lack of support among the public, President Donald Trump keeps talking about not holding the November midterm elections, when Republicans could lose control of the House, Senate or both.

So… the supposed European alternative to X and the answer to independence from U.S. tech is… using “American” ATProto instead of “European” Mastodon.

European organizations are about to launch their own social media platform, W, amid rising tensions with the United States.

Edit:

Just to clarify that this was posted as informational. I don’t consider that a private social network will be the answer to “protect” the world of another private social network. And consider that there’s already Mastodon, I don’t understand why are we supposed to need another platform.

In a smartphone market dominated by giants like Apple, Samsung, and the countless brands running on the American Google’s Android OS, European companies might seem like underdogs. With NATO thrown into question, some officials see the “coalition of the willing” as the basis for a new alliance without the U.S.

The European Parliament is considering putting on hold the European Union's implementation of the trade deal struck with the United States in protest over threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to seize Greenland.

Whenever the economy of the United States is starting to go down, the US starts a war somewhere. During the war, someone has to sell weapons to them, and after the war, someone has to rebuild the country (and guess who decides which construction companies and from where get to do that). While the clock of those countries goes back a few decades, the industry in the US gets revitalized.

Now that the problem is internal, the US wants the rest of the world to be destroyed in order to put the United States back on its feet.

Frankly, I would say the better path is the one that’s already happening. The European Union, after more than a quarter century negotiating with the countries of South America (Mercosur) finally agreed to compromise. Canada signed a “no tariffs” agreement with China. NATO is sending troops to Greenland, not many, just enough that if the United States attacks, it will be immediately in war with every country with an army there.

The world is moving forward, as it happens when one side pushes too much. As Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney said while talking about the trade deal with China:

“We take the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.”

 (Apologies for the long rant.)

Frankly? Europe’s NLnet, thru its grants, is already supporting and creating the backbone of the current internet open-source ecosystem.

True. I never thought that I would be glad that Netflix could ~~destroy~~ win such a big studio but if we consider that on the other side was a Trump family backed proposal… 🙄

He’s destroying the US Dollar basically, passing it’s “power” to its own crypto-currencies. Yes, he’ll destroy the United States long term viability in the process, but hey…

I wish. 😕

BMW and Volkswagen just lobbied the EU to delay the death of combustion engines, and… the EU went for it.

Meanwhile Chinese auto companies keep on improving their tech, so I can’t possibly see how this is any good. We are just getting even more behind on the EV competition.

Frankly, even though they are not European, I would go ghost.org instead of Nazi supporter Substack. As a bonus, they are cheaper and Fediverse integrated too.
