Re: World Cup

There is no guarantee your fans/teams will be able to enter the US. There is no guarantee your fans/teams will be able to return home. Don't come to the US.

"move the world cup? corruption is what turns me on" - fifa

[-] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 2 weeks ago

Bulldoze the white house, build the Jeffrey Epstein Memorial World Peace Fütball Colosseum.

Honestly, an empty stretch of grass would do a better job of it all

[-] merc@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 weeks ago

It's really unusual how everybody seems to talk as if the World Cup is only taking place in the US this year. It's in Canada and Mexico too. Just shift the matches so they're mostly / all in Canada and Mexico.

Whenever the economy of the United States is starting to go down, the US starts a war somewhere. During the war, someone has to sell weapons to them, and after the war, someone has to rebuild the country (and guess who decides which construction companies and from where get to do that). While the clock of those countries goes back a few decades, the industry in the US gets revitalized.

Now that the problem is internal, the US wants the rest of the world to be destroyed in order to put the United States back on its feet.

Frankly, I would say the better path is the one that’s already happening. The European Union, after more than a quarter century negotiating with the countries of South America (Mercosur) finally agreed to compromise. Canada signed a “no tariffs” agreement with China. NATO is sending troops to Greenland, not many, just enough that if the United States attacks, it will be immediately in war with every country with an army there.

The world is moving forward, as it happens when one side pushes too much. As Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney said while talking about the trade deal with China:

“We take the world as it is, not as we wish it to be.”

 (Apologies for the long rant.)

Dear US,

You got the world in this mess. You voted a criminal pedophile dictator into office, twice.

Clean up your shit yourselves. It's what your precious second amendment is for, right?

[-] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago

There's nothing more American.

Then creating a mess, and expecting someone else to clean it up.

Honestly after decades of ego and exceptionalism, this demand that other people fix issues they've caused themselves is pretty on-brand for the US

[-] Gathorall@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

Manifested a destiny not to their liking and suddenly it is other people's responsibility.

As an American citizen, I fully support the rest of the world putting us on time out until we get our shit together.

[-] ameancow@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I am willing to endure some hardships and long periods of beans and rice (and one other thing!) to see this through until all the fukking morons who wanted this finally get their consequences. Which is happening, just slowly.

I was never an accelerationist until now. I still think it's dumb but I also want this abomination of an administration to keep making mistakes so it makes enough people mad enough that something breaks and we get change.

The US isn't the way it is because of Trump, but Trump is the way he is because of the US.

Stop being lazy assholes and work on fixing your problems yourselves.

The tools of geopolitics aren't all that granular. The only thing an outside country can do is make your cities like the cities of Germany at the end of WWII, or like Gaza is today. If you're asking for other countries to fix your problems for you, that is the result.

Banning the US from the Olympics, World Cup or whatever doesn't change anything, and it probably would just be more fodder for your fascist propaganda.

Ending trade with the US? Yeah that's happening, but it won't be something that'll happen tomorrow. This is something that will happen over the next decade. You might even have a Democrat as President when things get really bad because of the shit Trump is doing today. And then you'll vote in another fascist. The stupidity of Americans has become incredibly predictable. Which is why no one can trust you long term.

You're just stupid, and there's no fixing stupid. And you have nukes. You're the guy that gave a monkey an uzi, and then wants someone else to deal with it. Nah, we're just going to stay away from both the monkey with the uzi and we're also going to stay away from the idiots that gave an uzi to a fucking monkey. You go take the uzi away from the monkey, you're the one that gave it to him.

That flag should be upside down

Sorry. You got us all to fall for capitalism. Now our governments only think of the profits. They don't care about your personal freedoms and liberties. Or ours, for that matter.

We all need to organize and unionize.

Dear America,

You were so proud of your opposition to tyranny. You’ve been screaming “land of the free!” For a couple hundred years now.

It’s time to put up, or shut up.

All that privilege that came with “land of the free”? Your house, your full time job, access to education, freedom of speech, etc? Time to drop it all and FIGHT - like you’ve always bragged about! Always bragging about how great your country was, weren’t you? Then BE GREAT! Get 20 million in the streets of Washington, something might change. Yup, some people gonna die. Or they can disappear forever; dragged screaming and crying never to be seen again.

Give up your privilidge, and FIGHT FOR IT!

You slept while this beast crept into your home.

Put your dog down, and quit whining to the rest of the world.

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 57 points 2 weeks ago

The loud ones are the ones with their tongues on the boot. The rest of us have to figure out who each other are without the bootlickers finding and ratting us out. Some of us have been fighting for decades. You are not helping.

P.S. fascists are laying groundwork in your country too. What are you doing about that besides criticizing the US?

What weird image of us do you have that you think we have good jobs, nice houses, and access to education?

60% of us live paycheck to paycheck, sometimes while working more than 1 full time job.

Education is -$50k at base. A basic shitty (prone to mold and problems in a few years) new build house or nice old house in need of work (like a new $20k roof) costs on average a half a million. Rent is $2-3k/mo. And healthcare can bankrupt you.

We have no good mass transit outside of major cities and vehicles now cost $30k to start.

Minimum wage is still $7.50.

As such most people came into this regime hanging by a thread, already fearful for their capacity to provide for themselves or their kids.

What America have you been watching, because I'd sure like to live in the one where we get those things.

Send a commando team to cut the head off the snake.

[-] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 weeks ago

Less of a snake and more a hydra. Trump needs to be dealt with, but more evil will pop up in his place. You need to get the team to eliminate the lot of them and not just the leader.

Why doesn't the USA (the biggest A) just use some of the freedom that it keeps exporting to oil rich countries?

[-] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

Like many countries, the export quality is greater than that of domestic.

help

We can’t.

The US was told that if they voted it in, the world couldn’t help.

We did help by advising them to vote because it was the easy way to stop it. They didn’t listen, told the world to mind its own business, made excuses like work et al as why they couldn’t vote. Some said it was their right not to vote.

That was the easy method and since we weren’t entitled to that vote, we couldn’t help there either. Now it’s one of the harder ones; either shutdown to force action from politicians who can stop it, or civil unrest. The first is easier, the circumstances the same. We cannot help, it has to occur from within.

[-] can@sh.itjust.works 21 points 2 weeks ago

We help by moving on, building new ties, and never forgiving or trusting again at least as long as this farce is in living memory.

While I do support the world doing all it can to end the U.S. empire, I think it is a case of "you broke it, you fix it". The USA was born out of genocide, grown on slavery, and continued to expand from imperialist exploitation of every county and people they could exploit. The U.S. citizenry has been just fine with supporting (or at least turning a blind eye to) dictatorships and fascism all over the planet, but now that they are getting a taste of it at home it is suddenly a problem.

The world can't mend your problems, USA, YOU need to clean your own fucking house.

[-] MoreMagic@feddit.org 14 points 2 weeks ago

Full embargo: no trading of goods and services whatsoever.
Boycott any international events in the US.
Ignore any US patents, royalties, copyright and similar devices.
Invite usonians abroad that only have an US passport to kindly leave.
Seize all murican assets abroad, like company headquarters, factories, etc.
No travel.
No trading in USD.

The small caveat being that some areas are overly dependent on US (like the EU on AWS and Visa/Mastercard), so step 0 would be (re)building local infrastructure.

Edit suggested action to muricans: follow the Luigi way.
Edit2: mention the Epstein files at every chance possible.
