If a badger mauls me to death because I tried to pet it, I want you all to know that I never said they weren't vicious predators. My name is in no way a statement on the docile nature of badgers. They are dangerous and I won't feel safe trying to pet it.

If you ever die in a badger related incident, I hope your partner starts posting for you

Helicopters in general. That's why there'a a TrueAnon rule, and why the actually important people travel by motorcade.

[-] [email protected] 43 points 2 years ago

Helicopters: A group of loosely related parts flying in close formation.

There's that one company that wants to make electronic helicopter taxis for the ultra-rich. I wish them well lol

"We call them Crashhawks for a reason" -One of the former military guys that's been on wtyp

I'm not going to profess to be some sort of expert on combat aircraft or complicated machines in general, but when I look something up and I immediately see this

Still, the Osprey isn't historically reliable when it comes to combat readiness. In fact, the program missed the boat on meeting its reliability rate goals in every year from 2011 to 2021 — despite taking its first flight in 1989.

in an article titled 'Why they call the Osprey the 'widow maker', I'm going to assume it's a piece of shit, especially knowing what I already did about it's extended development and previous crashes and issues

It's a fucking overcomplicated helicopter, and those are already accident prone pieces of shit, I don't think there has ever been a time when adding MORE delicate systems to an existing machine has increased it's reliability

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

I've never seen a mechanic more worried than when his Osprey stopped leaking

God, I hate reddit debatebros

agony-shivering

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 years ago

I agree, but occasionally they can be very funny. The enemy of my enemy has some good dunks sometimes

US forces in Iraq and Syria have been subject to 78 attacks resulting in 66 injuries since the start of Al-Aqsa Flood. There have been no deaths.

Since Al Aqsa Flood started a V22 Osprey has crashed with 8 servicemembers and a helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean carrying a full SF team. Everyone on both aircraft died.

thonk

Edit: I think they said 1 contractor died from a heart attack because of one of the missile strikes

[-] [email protected] 44 points 2 years ago

Where's that emoji with an al-queda member on a couch with a TV remote just watching America destroy itself?

[-] [email protected] 52 points 2 years ago

When your best defense is "hang on we have deadlier aircraft in the US air force!"

[-] [email protected] 51 points 2 years ago

Never forget that the Army wants its own much larger fleet of Ospreys. We're talking about the V280 Valor, they want to replace all Blackhawks with those starting in 2030.

A thousand Ospreys! Unlimited crashes! Endless VTOL genocide!

[-] [email protected] 31 points 2 years ago

Actually went ahead and looked up some numbers - as long as the Army doesn't change its plan, production will begin in 2027 already and the V-280 will have to replace at least 3,000 Blackhawks and Apaches. Oh and this crap will get pushed on the allies, so get ready for Fallschirmjagers drowning in the Baltics in this POS contraption lol.

Comrades Bell Helicopter and Boeing are about to kill way more Imperialist soldiers than any first world leftist movement has in a long time.

[-] [email protected] 11 points 2 years ago

I want to believe that there's some aircraft engineers sitting around a table like sicko-pig

[-] [email protected] 24 points 2 years ago

V-280 Valor

I like how it has the v-tail of the Beechcraft "fork-tailed doctor killer" Bonanza lmao

[-] [email protected] 23 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

replace all Blackhawks

Let me guess, Poland will buy those for the 50% higher price than new copters.

[-] [email protected] 50 points 2 years ago

who would have thought the aircraft more complicated than a helicopter, that can't glide for shit, and is routinely flown low to the ground would be unsafe

[-] [email protected] 34 points 2 years ago

And I think it can't do autorotation either?

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 years ago

Autorotation of a plane, glide characteristics of a helicopter

The helicopter that doubles as a submarine in 7th Fleet, the one where everything always crashes because it's overworked and undermaintained. RIP Captain Stupid-Ass.

This tickles me more than Kissinger did

"Posting station"? Is that ironic or unironic?

Reddit user UR_WRONG_ABOUT_V22 has died in a V22 Osprey crash, his wife now has taken control of his posting station

[-] [email protected] 13 points 2 years ago

That's the official job description lol wasn't there an old reddit survey that found the most active reddit users were in some quaint military town?

[-] [email protected] 29 points 2 years ago

Wait a minute, this isn't fakenews

[-] [email protected] 26 points 2 years ago

An Osprey is a bird of prey that hunts fish primarily. They do talon grabs skimming the surface of the water in flight as well as dives directly into the water.

That's not the reliability I've come to expect with something that was named Gundam 22.
