I realized after way too long that my water and sewer bills were high because my usage went way up. I had assumed it was inflation. Turns out I had a toilet leaking in the upstairs bathroom I never use. I turn off the water to that toilet and my meter stops moving, so I figured I'm good.

Then my other toilet starts leaking the next day. So I fix that one and the next day my water heater blows a bunch of water out the temperature and pressure valve.

Turns out what happened was that the city installed a backflow preventer on my water feed at some point in the last year. Since my water heater has no expansion tank, when the water heats up, it expands and because the water can't flow back out to the street anymore, the pressure built up and destroyed my toilet valves. The leaking toilets prevented the pressure from building, but once I fixed those the safety pressure valve on the hot water tank had to release to protect the tank from breaking.

I'm installing an expansion tank today that will be able to absorb that pressure. I guess I should thank my lucky stars it didn't destroy anything else. My nightmare is a pipe bursting inside a wall, my house has tons of old galvanized pipe that I need to replace at some point.

I felt like a coworker had started being cold with me (just monotone and expressionless really) in one-on-one situations, but she’s still friendly over chat, or in groups. My supervisor at work seems to really like me and I can't figure it out. Like he's been doing all this extra stuff to help me pass my driver training class that's happening elsewhere, stuff he's not even supposed to do like letting me drive trucks before I passed the road test.

Yesterday he came up to me while I was working and he's like, "Stop for a second. I want to tell you that you're doing a great job here. Soon you'll be a driver and I know you'll be great at that, I see it in you. You know I'll be sad to see you go.". I swear he was tearing up a bit, it was so genuine it kinda shook me. I've never seen him be like that with anyone else and all my coworkers act like he's straight evil.

I know I work hard and try to excel at whatever I do, but I don't get why this guy likes me so much. I've only worked for him for like 4 months. He seems to have liked me from day one, which is unusual for me because I'm socially awkward(probably neurodivergent). I've probably had a grand total of 10 to 20 sentences of non-work conversation with him since I've been here.

My current theory is that he has a son who's neurodivergent and that's why he feels like he knows me so well. My partner thinks he's buttering me up to try to get me to become management, but he hasn't said anything to make me think that(and I'd never do it).
