He did not write that.

I'm surprised he didn't call her woke and say he was happy she had died, like he usually does with everyone who has ever done anything good in their lives.
Despite all the good she did in the world, she refused to speak out against Trump or the Republican party or their policies. Regarding Trump and Hillary in 2016, she said they're both crazy. She never explicitly supported either side and went far out of her way to avoid ever choosing a side in politics at all, which is a shame. In my opinion, by not speaking out against the people who actively undermined the good she was doing in the world, she really just undermined herself.
There's a billboard by my house that for the last 6 months or more has had a picture of her with the phrase, "See the good in everybody." But I can't. I can't see the good in Trump or any of the toadies he surrounds himself with. Their evil completely occludes any good in them and I'm sad that she didn't seem to see that.
Edit: They're, not their. I am so ashamed.
I can't see the good in Trump
I can. It’s the blood clot.
You don't have to read this, and I'm not intending to proselytize, and I'm no expert (in fact I'm pretty new to this) but Buddhism believes in the oneness/connectedness of everything. I look at djt and his lackeys as scared unwise people doing evil out of fear (fear of ego, fear of different, fear of weakness, fear of change, and so on). I honestly feel bad for them. It must feel awful inside to look at and treat the world that way. So "See the good in everybody" seems like a concept that is close to awakening.
Dolly had nothing to gain by being political. I don't blame her for keeping her personal politics to herself. In fact, I'd like it if more celebrities did the same. I disagree that her silence about politics undermined her children's literacy efforts (because we all still talk about those efforts and will for decades to come).
I wish you all the best today.
I live in Tennessee, so my opinion of Dolly is definitely biased. She was and is a treasure. I think she understood something most people in positions of power and prestige do not: what you say matters little, what you do matters lots.
Could she have showed up on political stages? Sure. Could she wear a #I'mWithHer shirt? Yeah. Is she the kind of person who's going to play moral trolley problem lesser of two evil games? Absolutely not.
Dolly came from a place where nobody gave a damn about her or anyone else, and they still don't. So she decided she would. She decided to cut through it all to let kids know that someone cares about them and that kindness always wins.
Well said. The world would be a better place if more of us quietly did good deeds. Advocacy is also good, but many don't go past that.
Frankly, I don't think Dolly Parton would have realistically done as much good trying to weigh in on the politics. A lot of her good works were focused in areas that would have likely turned against her if she put herself in opposition to Trump. The people that you might hope to be swayed by Dolly are probably more likely to suddenly dismiss her as some mere entertainer that succumbed to the "woke mind virus" rather than be swayed. Then her philanthropic works would have gained enemies to no practical good result.
With the Iran war and increased oil prices, Trump probably had a positive effect on the climate crisis. And he might have pushed US politics towards socialism long term. But that's really all I can think of.
She had huge boobs, no way he’d ever have a bad thing to say about her.
Yeah, that’s all it takes.
Blonde hair helps
Idk, if he were a boob guy wouldn't he prefer adults?
The fact that Trump didn't refer to himself in the 3rd person on this post is evidence that this policy was created by his ghost-writer.
Keep Dolly's name out your filthy child-molesting mouth, trump.
This would be a damn nice country if there were no republicans! Prove me wrong!
We'd basically be living in the Star Trek timeline if knuckledragging conservatives/regressives weren't standing in our way.
Most Democrats in Congress are also pretty shitty money shills as well. They are the party that forced Hillary for 2016 and citizens United happened under Obama. Clinton won in the 90s by adopting in Republican beliefs to win over Republicans. Also the 1996 telecom act and getting rid of glass\steagal.
They're a bit better, but they aren't good. They also voted to back Israel and we're also pretty much the only country to keep food from being declared a human right for the past like 30 years.
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has been cancelled in my state due to republican cuts. My newborn was receiving books but we got a letter informing us it would end soon a few months ago.
he has to insert himself into everything of a national nature. doesnt mean he really cares, he just craves the attention
To be fair (don't know why I would be fair to him, but here I am), presidents have routinely commented in similar circumstances. I'm reminded of Obama commenting when Robin Williams died.
Red and Blue alike love Dolly, I think. It's one of those few things both sides agree on.
Holy shit.
He may not have written that.
He may not agree with it.
He may now reverse course and say something that contradicts it.
He may be the opposite of everything she stood for.
But I actually fully agree with a tweet attributed to Donald J. Trump! Wow...
You mean DONALD J. TRUMP! /s
I'm disgusted that this is how I found out our Queen is no longer with us 😭
Fuck Trump
💕 Dolly lives for eternity in our universe & hearts 💕
It's a nitpick, but once again Trump thinks he has the power to order what state and private institutions do with their flags. He does not.
I’ll never get over the way this fuck randomly capitalizes just any old noun
All flagpoles need to hang disco balls and have rainbow LED strobes pointed at them for a week when he finally has a stroke and falls from his gilded throne.
