Unpopular opinion: toilets are perfectly shaped to make farts as loud as possible.

No, that's how I assert dominance.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 42 minutes ago* (last edited 41 minutes ago)

If anyone out there is self conscious about this, remember: you should only be embarrassed by sounds that come out of your mouth when in the bathroom. If you're grunting and sighing in the stall you need immediate medical attention or a gag. Pull it together

[-] DudeWhoYapsTooMuch@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

I used too but I remember it’s the shit room. You better be grunting and farting

[-] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 54 minutes ago

Yes. We must be ashamed of our filth and all things we do without wearing pants and cower from the glare of God lest he drown us like all the others.

[-] DJKJuicy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago

I used to clench up in public bathrooms if there was anyone else in the bathroom.

Now I just let 'er rip. Even if I know it's gonna be loud and funky.

[-] Elting@piefed.social 2 points 1 hour ago

I thought the whole point was to piss as loud as possible to assert dominance?

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 hour ago

Everybody poops as they say. The bathroom is the socially acceptable place for farts imo.

[-] DudeImMacGyver@kbin.earth 7 points 4 hours ago

I think they're funny and I'm tired of pretending they're not.

[-] kdcd@sh.itjust.works 11 points 5 hours ago

I have IBS so if I want to go anywhere I have to deal with the fact that I may end up making lots of noise in a public toilet. In my forties I’m pretty desensitized about it now. Everybody poops.

[-] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 42 points 7 hours ago

If I hear someone on the phone in a public restroom I try to rip ass as loud as possible.

I'm not stuck in here with you, you're stuck in here with me.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 40 minutes ago

Yup. Bringing normal sounds into the bathroom is just as bad as bringing bathroom sounds into a normal room

[-] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 15 points 3 hours ago

Someone did that at a supermarket bathroom I was in!

The guy was yapping away on his phone. I was washing my hands being annoyed. And suddenly, one guy said, "Fuck it!" And just blasted a massive fart shit.

The guy on the phone went silent. And I couldn't help but laugh my ass off.

[-] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 2 points 3 hours ago

Nope. At some point you gotta accept your farts.

[-] fork@feddit.online 27 points 7 hours ago

We need to destigmatize farts and pooping.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 12 points 7 hours ago

Yes we should have communal toilets where we can hold hands and share our innermost feelings while shitting as a group.

[-] r0ertel@lemmy.world 14 points 5 hours ago
[-] ieh@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

Soooo… I occasionally monitor images posted to the instance and this one popped up and I just want you to know I had to go see where the heck it was posted and in what context. lol. So congrats on that. XD

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 6 points 5 hours ago

Yes but with ten or twenty people.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 hour ago

Swedish outhouse toilets FTW.

[-] muhyb@programming.dev 11 points 5 hours ago

Couldn't find the bigger version on mobile, but this should do.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 5 points 5 hours ago

I’d love to be squished into that corner.

[-] chisel@piefed.social 5 points 4 hours ago

And of course randos ALWAYS choose to sit in the corner next to you when the entire row is empty.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 4 points 4 hours ago

That’s the best part.

After you sit on the still warm and slightly moist corner seat and a random stranger comes and cuddles up while you poop together.

It’s like social media.

[-] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

You know those knees are touching

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 hours ago

Those Roman poopers were unisex.

I mean I try not to in public but if someone else does it, it just about makes my day, farts are so funny

[-] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

In public, the sounds are funny, the smells are not. In private, you do you.

[-] EmilieEasie@fedinsfw.app 4 points 5 hours ago

Lol, I can usually escape public bathrooms quickly enough to not need to put up with much smell, but you're not wrong either!

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 5 hours ago

No. Y'all know what goes on in there. If you don't, you're the one who should be embarrassed.

[-] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 2 points 3 hours ago

I go in there to look into the mysterious holes between the separators.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 38 minutes ago

The nefarious crack peeker

[-] uberdroog@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

I only shit at home or in the woods. I hate walking into a public restroom and knowing a microscopic piece of another mans colon is now in my nose.

[-] czl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 hours ago

Have I got news for you: a lot of microscopic other men’s colon has been in your nose even outside of the bathrooms.

[-] Nemo@slrpnk.net 12 points 7 hours ago

No, I'm never embarrassed by my singing.

[-] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 5 points 6 hours ago

Assapella rendition of hit songs?

[-] akunohana@piefed.blahaj.zone 10 points 7 hours ago

Yes. I wonder, though, why? What conditioned me this way? Also, in some societies, such as Japan, concealing toilet sounds is encrouaged by those otohime devices in public bathrooms.

[-] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Interesting that the wiki says it’s only for women’s restrooms.

Also funny that some women just really need the real thing, the sound box isn’t good enough. Never mind the public toilet spraying your nethers with flush water while you do your business. I guess the bidet helps with some of that.

[-] akunohana@piefed.blahaj.zone 3 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Well, drawing from feminist theory, it's all about men being allowed to be rough, dirty, filthy, smelly, loud, taking up space (physical, emotional, whathaveyou), careless, inconsiderate, dominant, whathaveyou without losing legitimacy as real men. Women, on the other hand, especially in Japan but really in any current human society, are forced to be feminine (as per patriarchal norms, the makeup industry's standards, heterosexual men's sexual desires, whathaveyou) or else risk losing legitimacy as real women. After all, girls don't poop.

Edit/link description: search results on duckduckgo for "girls don't poop", with the purpose of sarcastically pointing to some ridiculous Reddit conversations, memes and jokes that "process" or reflect women's lack of right to self-governance and dignity.

[-] ceenote@lemmy.world 7 points 7 hours ago

I feel like no longer caring if strangers can hear you poop is a big part of growing up. Not to say I've reached that point.

[-] bcgm3@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Usually no, but I'm dealing with cyclospora right now and I gotta say, the sounds are unpleasant.

Not even a little.

[-] Pattylay@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago
[-] amio@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

I think the, uh, acoustics, are mostly a necessary evil. The bowl has to accommodate a ton of water splashing around without going everywhere, and ideally also not go out of its way to trap any doodoo. That can't just be any old shape.

[-] AskewLord@piefed.social 4 points 7 hours ago

No. Nature isn't embarassing.

I have been embarrassed when I shat my pants from drinking too much though.

[-] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 1 points 37 minutes ago

That sounds like a healthy embarrassment threshold. No notes.

[-] HobbitFoot 4 points 7 hours ago

In the bathroom, no. Outside the bathroom, yes.
