That makes sense. Yes, I noticed folks in my life who i was close to who did this sort of stuff... often felt overwhelmed with their lives and terrified of the unknown. And they found interacting with me super frustrating because I was not predictable in the way they desired and my constant introduction of novelty to their own life seemed to upset them constantly.

eventually good habits become self re-inforcing.

I can't drink mass market soda anymore, it's disgustingly sweet. some of the smaller boutique sodas have way less sugar and are tasty.

learn to enjoy drinking it.

good habits don't magically happen, you have to use your willpower.

You can also try seltzer or flavored waters if that helps or filtering it. plenty of tap water can taste bad.

I don't get the whackadole 'hacks' people are going on about here. I drink 2-3L of water per day, and 4-5L if I'm active. I drink it because I'm thirsty and it's delicious.

you sure you are on lemmy? most users here seem to think an ideology is an excuse to murder others if they don't agree.

Basically, I can't figure out the appeal or Tiktok and other types of repetitive media consumption where you are doing the same thing over and over and over. I remember trying it out and just being so bored and frustrated with the entire thing.

I feel the same way about TV shows, and restaurants and all that too. Going to the same place every Friday night and getting the same order and watching the same TV show on repeat just sounds like hell to me.

Or hanging out and talking about the same topics over and over and over, with never a new or novel thing to say, drinking the same beer/wine/cocktail over and over.

What is the appeal of living this way?

Not my experience. But I'm not a leftist extremist.

[-] AskewLord@piefed.social 2 points 23 hours ago

that takes 5-10 years of practice, several hours per week.

every amateur musician i know practices like 10 hours a week, and the semi-pros it's more like 20

what about people who have been in fights as children?

it also won't help chronic diseases or disabilities.

[-] AskewLord@piefed.social 2 points 1 day ago

why would you ever learn to do it unless you're working professionally in classical music in some capacity?

spoken like someone who has never dealt with problems money can't solve.

like your loved ones suffering

When did you first see it, and what did you think?

Was it your first/only anime if you did see it?

inspired by LCL vs FCL.

Disclosure: I've traveled and I've lived abroad in two different countries and been dozens of places outside of my 'home'.

But I don't get this obsession people have with travel being the uber alles thing you can do and how if you don't do it all the time or as much as possible you are a ignorant incurious person. I don't see my travel as being this amazing thing... it was just a nice thing that I did and frankly I don't remember very much about it and what I do remember I don't think is a more important memory than lots of other things I did in life.

I don't think I am superior or 'worldly' because of it compared to someone who has never traveled abroad. But it is an extremely common belief/attitude I encounter on a regular basis and it confuses the hell out of me. I've met plenty of people that just go on the attack when you don't want to 'exchange amazing travel stories' with them or daydream with them about all the places you'd like to go. There are some places I'd like to go, but again, it's not a big deal to me that I see it as some big important part of my life and I certain do not condescend towards people who aren't as 'well traveled' as I am like it's some contest or achievement.
