She was a great liar, she repeated every lie with complete conviction. Is psychopathology now a requirement for this administrations representatives?

[-] Ooops@feddit.org 37 points 4 days ago

Is it even physically possible to find liar so good to sell the extremely obvious bullshit of this administration?

[-] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 21 points 4 days ago

no, that's the problem with lying... you have to lie more and more and more to the point where you're lying about your own lies.

lies never work and are always found out.

the issue isnt the lies, it's that questioning the lies will eventually be met with deportation or death because it's the only way to cintilntto cover up lies.

They don't care if they're "caught". Truth, logic, none of that matters to them. Say what sounds good right now, and in ten minutes, say something contradictory and their base doesn't care.

[-] RaoulDook@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

It only works for the cultists who want to believe it, not the rest of us with basic integrity and a grasp of reality.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

She didn't sell it, nobody bought any of it for a second. The media covers it like it's the truth though.

Every lie we tell incurs debt to the truth. Sooner or later this debt is paid.

But never paid by the liar

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 days ago

Ooh I like that.

Bravo!

Every lie we tell incurs debt to the truth. Sooner or later this debt is paid but NEVER paid by the liar.

Karoline Leavitt actually stuck around a pretty long time, by Trump Press Secretary standards. Maybe she gets a thrill out of MAGA twisting themselves into knots to make whatever she says feel true.

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago

She stuck around until Trump used her as an unwitting decoy, and put her on a plane marked for destruction. She's got two little kids, and she's pretty! She thought she had more juice than that, until she got a sharp backhand across the face.

[-] JackiesFridge@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

It literally doesn’t matter if they’re good or not. His base doesn’t care, and it really feels like nobody else does either. The press just finks out with “Trump claims” headlines that quote the lies verbatim. All they need is the principal mouthpiece and the fourth estate does the rest.

[-] Treczoks@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

But how good will the next press secretary at giving blowjobs?

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

If the weiner is old and rich, they'll be great at it.

[-] DrPop@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Make me the press secretary. I'll lie long enough to get them comfortable, then when it's most damaging to the administration I'll tell the truth.

[-] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 4 points 3 days ago

I don't think any of them get any real truth to tell. Kegsbreath goes and tells the blonde spokeshead of the minute to tell the press that the operation was a complete success and we won the war in the first minute. It's not like she has the actual military reports in front of her she's lying from.

[-] luciferofastora@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago

Part of what made Karo-Lyin' good at her job was that she actually was in the briefings and meetings and shit, which meant that she did have real truth to tell. Of course, she lied anyway, but the fact that her calculated lies might point back to what she was concealing is what gave her weight with the journalists: A game of hide-and-seek with truth, but at least it gave them a chance to find it.

As the article points out, there's no clear successor that would have that same truth to even play with in the first place. That would give whatever successor they install much less sway.

[-] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

That's some game of thrones level shit

[-] TBi@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

I would love to see a report “Trump made comments in the whitehouse. We are not reporting them”

[-] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 4 points 3 days ago

Who cares? Literally EVERYTHING that comes out of this administration is a lie. If they release bad news, it's only because the true facts were so much worse that even this bad news looks good. It only looks bad to us, because we don't know how bad it really is.

It's not even the lies that bother me, I expect that from MAGA, you can't be mad at a tiger for having stripes. I'm mad at the media, who covers the lies as if they deserve the cover of legitimacy. When Trump declares that we are on the verge of a peace plan with Iran that will settle the whole thing, open the Strait, drop gas prices to 50 cents a gallon, and every American will get a free puppy or kitten of their choice, the media covers it as if it is true, and not just the 40th Iran Peace Plan Pump & Dump in a row. They don't even bother to investigate if the Negotiation Dream Team of Kushner and Witner were even over there. They just cover it as if they haven't been lied to a million previous times.

And then we go on Lemmy, and discuss it as if it was ever a real thing, which it never was.

Then we bomb Iran for another fictitious reason, and the pump & dump cycle starts all over again, and the media covers it like this is normal geopolitics, and not at all about Trump manipulating the markets.

He should just appoint an AI, then at least we don't have to pretend like the person standing behind the podium has any control over what they're saying.

Return of the Mooch?
