Hey everyone. Hope you have had a good weekend and are enjoying your summer. This week I've been out of town but I spent a lot of time in airports so I dusted off my Gameboy emulator on my phone and saw i had a Pokémon emerald save that was still before the first gym leader. I now have 3 badges and full steam ahead on the 4th. Hope you all have a great week!

Still working through DS3 with my partner. Just beat the watchdogs. Double dipping some monster hunter with Wilds on PC and FU on the PSP.

B42 dropped so my friends have been trying to find a time to boid it up but peoples family members keep having medical emergencies (including me) so we’ve been pushing that back.

Also playing some guild wars reforged. I played the shit out of it as a dumb kid who never got through a story so I’m trying to rectify that. Just about done with pre-searing ascalon so I’ll probably trigger the apocalypse in the next couple play sessions.

My partner really wants to play Grand Blue Relink with me but 1. I’m not buying any new games right now I got enough to play and if I don’t wanna do that I have emulation and 2. it seems like FFXIV with button mashing and preset characters (I’m sure that’s reductive that’s just my impression). Watching him play it was giving me a headache just from the noises.

Played and beat Sifu in normal mode, switched it to Master difficulty and rage-quit at the first boss. I kinda feel like normal mode taught me how to play the game wrong lol.

Did some Warframe here and there, also played some more DMC5 Vergil campaign.

Playing BG3 once again and hopefully this time I can finish a full playthrough

[-] razgriz@hexbear.net 3 points 20 hours ago

Marathon and Halo but I'm too sluggish and tired to do anyrhing for the last few days lol

and are enjoying your summer

This ironically fits because despite being winter in the southern hemisphere, it's hot as hell in here. This week temperatures hovered between 28ºC - 33ºC.

But outside of that not so fun fact, I have been still grinding on that SF6 ranked. I have finally surpassed Platinum 1 and I'm now midway through Platinum 2. Really feel like I'm getting better at a very rapid pace too, feels like I'm understanding interactions much better now.

I have also gone back into Hades after watching some gameplay recently. I have finished the story but there's still quite a bit of stuff for me to do there.

I am playing twighlight struggle the board game for the first time and its genuinely brilliant. Its like Risk but not shit, naturally i am playing NATO and i have europe, asia and africa on lock rn expanding in central america. It appears using actual american cold war foreign policy works

Edit: I won. America reigns supreme

Actually i ignored south America completely, dont overstretch your empire folks

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 2 points 13 hours ago

Neat, you playing the video game or the actual boardgame IRL?

I'd say it's pretty hard to hold on to South America or Africa as the US because the USSR will keep DEFCON at 2 with a coup into a battleground in one of those two continents as their first action just about every turn they can.

[-] Snort_Owl@hexbear.net 2 points 13 hours ago

Boardgame irl but looking at getting the digital version

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 2 points 12 hours ago

Lol yeah there are sure a lot of cardboard chits for the physical game. Back in the day the digital version had no DRM so my friendgroup bought one copy and then just passed around a USB stick. Good times.

Final Fantasy Tactics. Yes again madeline-stare

The switch from chapter 1 to 2 is so weird, like Delita gets asploded at the Death Corps base, there's a brief intertitle of (presumably) Ramza being like "I took my whole life for granted..." and then it cuts back to the chapel from the intro. I guess we just don't get to see when Ramza became a mercenary? Okay???

I finally got enough decent stickers in War Thunder to start fucking around with flying Japanese planes (after I cover up the sun roundels). Still playing some other planes, though, like the Yak-9T and Chinese La-11.

Trying to pick Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 back up. It's hard to not want to be a completionist in this one, but I'm trying to be loosey-goosey and enjoy it.

Finished Esoteric Ebb and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor the other day, too. Fun games, but hard to recommend to anyone beyond those who see the immediate appeal.

Decided to put another playthrough into Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. It's been a few years and I need to recreate a clear file on my memory card since I lost my old one recently. This game is easily one of the best games in the series with one of the best stories. Also, Ike/Soren is a thing and I won't hear otherwise.

My hotel blocks torrents so I downloaded Outer Wilds, starting once I check in.

EDIT -- I was flying into it completely blind and didn't even know it needed a controller. It will have to wait until I'm in my own place.

[-] almalexia@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 8 hours ago

You can play it fine with a keyboard. Don't delay yourself from playing the best goddamn puzzle game ever made

[-] DonLongSchlong@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 11 hours ago

What do you mean it needs a controller? 🤔 i played for a while on kb+m just fine

[-] rubber_chicken@hexbear.net 1 points 11 hours ago

It suggested it. If I'm 7 years late to play it, it's no big deal for me to wait a couple more weeks to play it properly.

[-] DonLongSchlong@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 11 hours ago

Mh i don't remember that at all and find it quite weird because it is first person and those are just automatic kb+m to me.

Hope you enjoy it whenever you do play it😁

decided to try the tales games, playing Tales of Berseria now, if I finish it and still want more Tales of Xillia would be the next to try, I have a few unplayed JRPGs in the steam library and maybe this will be like a kick off to finally get on track to play them

[-] dead@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Today is day 9 of Path of Exile 3.29. The 3.29 expansion introduce a new character type (Luminary) that can hire mercenary NPCs to fight alongside you, like in diablo 2. There's a lot of new build possibilities and it's fun. Many players are making a character that provides buffs to the mercenary and then it kills everything instead of you.

[-] makotech222@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Just beat Persona 3 Reloaded. Funny thought: I first played the original on emulator, usually at like 2-3x speed. On emulators, the speed up also speeds up the music, so i ended up listening to all the tracks at high speed and it mostly sounded like gibberish. Now that i played at normal speed, i realize that the lyrics are actually gibberish because they are translated to english and don't make any sense lol

Back in my day we called that nightcore

[-] JimLarkin@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

Subnautica Below Zero - It's boring but it's pretty and slow and relaxing.

[-] ashinadash@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago

Oh also about Pokemon, very chill. Emerald has a bunch of great hacks nowadays like Lazarus, Seaglass, but I ran a nuzlocke of Emerald Cross (mostly vanilla but has many convenience features, such as nuzlocke mechanics) and it was pretty good. The pokemon games actually hold up fairly well imo, which is cool because I thought I'd grown out of them.

[-] Wisp@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

Just started playing dying light. Got it for free years ago and I’d heard good things. So far fun zombie parkour game, decent fun. And when I’ve had time to kill I’ve been diving back into Into the Breach. Such a good game and I love all the new content that was added a couple years ago

I set up Sunshine/Moonlight to play PC games on a TV via a Switch, although my annoying-ass wireless network is making this a pain recently. Sometimes I connect first try, othertimes I need to endlessly restart my PC and Switch until they happen to connect for some reason. I assume it might be a thing with the router having a automatic 2.4Ghz/5Ghz thing and maaaaybe if I switch that it'll stop being like this, but IDK. Plex is similar.

But anyway, I set this up to (re)play The Painscreek Killings with my mom. She's taking notes and helping solve the puzzles and I'm doing the inputs. I vaguely remember the mystery, mostly just the bad ending the game has, but the 90% of the game before that is really good. I gotta' play Scene Investigators their game after this where it leans even more into being a real detective game.

[-] razgriz@hexbear.net 3 points 20 hours ago

Definitely 2.4ghz auto switching that band is very congested everywhere

[-] WokePalpatine@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

See, just connected first try right now.

[-] HuntressHimbo@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago

Its going to be Dead by Daylight and Grim Dawn for me today. Have a whole gaming day set out with loved ones

I'm now platinum rank in Magic Arena ranked which is quite enjoyable

making some good progress through Horizon Forbidden West. I haven't played any open world games in a while so it is nice to get back in this weekend. It's been a pretty chill weekend!

[-] ryepunk@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I got Saros, and the incident at galley house. Saros is like returnal, with maybe too many mechanics (dodge, shield, shield to charge a big gun, but shield only works on some bullets). I only have like an hour, it seems okay, enemies generally seem too tanky, with alot of the difficulty seeming to be the fact that you need to survive bullets flying at you for minutes straight. This works for boss fights where the arena is chosen, and works less good for random enemies in procedurally generated fights, I hate getting caught on random bits of level geometry.

Incident at galley house is the next game from the team that remixed roottrees are dead, and they remixed this game as well. It's another fun detective game. Not quite sure what I'm doing, just seeing scenes and using them to find more scenes and slowly attach pictures to names. It's quite satisfying.

[-] bigpharmasutra@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

I finished Saros so if you need any help with it let me know. You can always use the modifiers to make things easier. I kept a few on permanently to keep things from getting even more overly annoying. The real key is to keep making forward progress so you can unlock the abilities and additional weapons that the story provides. Sadly, its not as good as Returnal, but its pretty close. The story is better but the gameplay and fundamentals aren't as fleshed out as they should be. I'm holding onto my copy in hopes of a DLC.

[-] ryepunk@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago

Yeah my hands are not what they used to be so I've got the aim assistance bumped up. But long drawn out fights tend to leave my hands pretty sore. Action games are probably going to disappear from my future it seems.

Almost got through the first boss, just trying to get the hang of dodging, shielding and general positioning to avoid the bullets

[-] bigpharmasutra@hexbear.net 2 points 20 hours ago

Yeah getting used to using the shield took me a good long while.

If you're having hand problems are you doing your hand and wrist stretches before gaming? using any wrist or hand braces?

If not, you should. They help a great deal.

[-] moonlake@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

I've jumped back into RDR2 since it's the quintessential summer game. I have zero interest in GTA6, I wish they made another sad cowboy game instead.

[-] bigpharmasutra@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

Was going to start Blasphemous 2 but they've decided to release Dying Light 2 on PS Plus so I'm holding off on playing that. Tried to play Kingdom Come Deliverance and it feels SOOOOOOOO old. People say it holds up but I don't know.

[-] muhg@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

Lego Dimensions, via RPCS3, the one mainline Lego game I have not played. Only just fully set it up yesterday, so I've only beat the first level so far.

[-] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago

i have been playing Star Wars: Outlaws since denuvo has been busted wide open on linux

i've been really enjoying it, it's very immersive and i've been having fun just wandering around the world(s) and fucking around. the gameplay has been pretty good too, kay feels nice to control and nix is adorable.
it also has the best accessibility options i've ever seen
all in all i think it's really good, pity it's kinda buggy and the save system is god awful

[-] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 2 points 8 hours ago

I don't really get the hate that that game got. It wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but I had a fun few dozen hours with it too. Definitely better and less bloated than any other recent Ubi game.
