Rare Roger Waters L. This is like when Norm Finkelstein went on Candace Owens' show.

[-] ajab@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

Finkelstein also went onto Carlson's show. And so did Mersheimer.

[-] Juice@midwest.social 13 points 3 weeks ago

Mersheimer's not a leftist, is he? He's a good analyst but I always thought he was an institutional intellectual

[-] hotspur@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah he’s not a leftist. He’s a realist, and so a lot of his analysis is more in tune with material analysis than others, and he’s not a dummy, so even if his “I want America to win” positions are at odds with leftisms goals his analysis of situations is often interesting and useful.

Anyway, as far as old guy academic intellectuals go, I find him fairly interesting and useful to watch.

Waters has been dropped, banned or sanctioned by a wide variety of entities in reaction to his comments, including Major League Baseball, BMG Rights Management, the German city of Frankfurt, multiple Argentine hotels, and the country of Poland. Waters has contributed to financing a land deal that returned 4.5 acres of private property to the Shinnecock Nation. The land includes the Shinnecock Nation's ancestral burial grounds.

What a record lmao

[-] kristina@hexbear.net 34 points 3 weeks ago

I wish I was banned from Poland

[-] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 31 points 3 weeks ago

Being banned from Poland is one of the greatest honors that can be bestowed upon a person.

Why why why WHY couldn't it have been David Gilmour? Then I could have made a joke about "on the turning away" but the pale and downtrodden are KKKracKKKer jet ski dealership-owning boaters

Rare L

Never watch your heroes

[-] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

Nick would just do his Tucker impression at an increasingly bewildered Carlson until the fabric of space-time collapsed.

[-] ConcreteHalloween@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Nick said on Cum Town once if Tucker ever had him on he'd just respond to the first question by saying the N-Word with a hard R, the idea being he'd put Tucker in a position where he'd have to condemn him for saying it, costing him most of his fandom, but Nick's reputation would be sacrificed in the act.

Which... I mean that probably wouldn't work but damn if it did.

[-] SchillMenaker@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago

I'd like to think that his position has evolved somewhat since then

[-] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 29 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Boomers like him and Jesse Ventura always have weird takes on 9/11. I think for most of them it was their big way into modern age conspiratorial thinking, and by fluke it led them towards leftist knowledge of CIA/imperialism rather than right wing Jewish world order theories.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 44 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Roger Waters wasn't led to leftist knowledge of imperialism through this kind of thing, he's an old school communist. His mother was chairman of the Young Socialists in Cambridge University and both his parents were open and prominent CPB members.

This is just shameless self promotion because boomers that like his music also like Tucker.

[-] The_Filthy_Commie@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, his mom was one of the OG ''Tankies''.

[-] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 28 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

9/11 was done by mossad and the CIA and their saudi salafist allies and proxies, this isn't a conspiracy it's just what happened

stop calling people who can recognize reality 'conspiracy theorists' that shit doesn't work anymore. just like 'anti-semite' it's been driven into the ground and made useless as a pejorative or snarl word by the zionist neocon blob center

[-] Wordplay@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

source or further reading please

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

If you like trueanon they have a series on 9/11 that I think is serviceable, it's fairly good about staying grounded in plausible assertions rather than too much speculation.

[-] Maturin@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

You can watch Charlie Wilson’s War, starring Tom Hanks. The last thing that happens in the whole movie is

Tap for spoiler9/11 audio, drawing a direct connection between the funding and arming of the mujahideen, which the movie is about, and the attacks

[-] limer@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 weeks ago

Bush sr totally understood the American psyche and how to do the most obvious crimes while stifling criticism.

His son went along with his plans. But it’s thanks to his father that there was both 911, and electric voting controlled by his cronies.

[-] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

I mean, it's easy to argue that America created the conditions for 9/11 to happen, and that pretty much everything that's happened in the middle east since they started invading it has been more or less been American created outcomes, but as to whether they deliberately allowed 9/11 itself to happen - I just don't believe it - nor that it was an inside job on a jet-fuel-steel-beams level.

Explain the cheering Mossad agents outside, the Israelis who all weren’t at the World Trade Center that day, Building 7, bodies blown out onto nearby rooftops in areas that supposedly just had office fires & the known CIA arming and funding of the Saudi pilots then

[-] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

Ok. They didn't all have ties, and Israel requires military service so everyone's going to military related. I agree, this one is the most suspicious, but I can't believe in the whole theory based on this one alone. I am willing to believe they were just sick assholes.

Plenty of Israelis and Jews were in the towers and surrounding areas. Records dont show any abnormal absenteeism. I know 2 people who 'should've' been in 9/11 but had a flight delayed or whatever. I know one person who got off the train one stop before the 7/7 bombings just because they fancied a walk and a bacon sandwich that day. Things just happen.

Bodies blown onto rooftops - the insane forces inside that building shot debris out for miles. When those floors collapsed a great vacuum of force was shot out the sides. When the plane hit there was a fat fuck off explosion. A limb is not that heavy.

Building 7 is pretty convincing, I will give you that. Very odd 'coincidence' but these things do happen on the same day as other things happen. When you scour a mega city for clues you're going to find connections.

There isn't a direct link to the funding of the pilots is there? CIA trained bin laden and so on in Afghanistan. They've funded radical terror groups to the tune of millions of dollars. Yes, US money might've bought groups money, but I don't believe the hijackers were in contact with the US at any point regarding orchestrating 9/11.

[-] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

I'm guessing you don't know who Roger Waters is?

[-] MaoTheLawn@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I just knew him as the Pink Floyd guy who had good takes on Venezuela and Palestine.

I've actually met the guy, and I even worked for his old bandmate David Gilmour (though I believe they're basically now enemies). I just never really looked into his political background.

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago

So is he calling for an investigation of the Saudis?

[-] Maeve@kbin.earth 20 points 4 weeks ago

If it's true, let him use the platform. Front door was locked. This door is open.

[-] FunkyStuff@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago

Definitely feels like this makes Tucker look better to a lot of people and it ain't helping either Roger nor whatever good getting the truth out about 9/11 might do.

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 26 points 4 weeks ago

Tucker is 1000% getting ready to run for president and at this point I think he'll probably win doomer

[-] nailingjello@piefed.zip 13 points 4 weeks ago
[-] Kefla@hexbear.net 21 points 3 weeks ago

Tucker Carlson is basically Trump except instead of being the dumbest man who ever lived he's significantly more intelligent than the average American (which is a low bar but still makes a big difference)

[-] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

And he can tie a bow tie, so he has a higher base dexterity stat than the average American.

[-] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 18 points 3 weeks ago
[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago

There's no way that could possibly be true

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 15 points 4 weeks ago

Bad week for people who used to have good politics I guess, Hinckley now this.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 20 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah the Reagan assassin, he came out the other day as a nazi, but others have commented he was a nazi back in the 70s or 80s as well, most people just don't know that.

[-] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Did he ever have good politics? trying to merc Reagan is based in a vacuum, but assuming the official story is true didn't he do it to impress Jodie Foster after he saw her play a child ~~prostitute~~sex trafficking victim in Taxi Driver

[-] anonochronomus@hexbear.net 12 points 3 weeks ago

The Hinkley and Bush families were very close. John Hinkley was allegedly quite mentally ill and made a perfect candidate for an MKULTRA programmed to kill type mind controlled assassin program. Make of that what you will.

[-] ClathrateG@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I can see it, then again although I believe it; the Sirhan Sirhan RFK assassination(although the fatal shot came from one of agents behind him, Sirhan still shot as well) stretches my credulity to the limit, and that as a lot more evidence for mind control

Although: WKUK are smarter than me

He was definitely connected with Bush Sr so it's more or less guaranteed he'd be a Nazi.

[-] Chana@hexbear.net 11 points 4 weeks ago

Hot dang Nazis everywhere

[-] Kumikommunism@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

This doesn't mean his politics aren't good anymore.
