This was at some department store. The doors had keypads on them so I went back to the entrance to ask this kid if I could be let in. The dude gives me a smug little smirk and radios for someone to meet me back there. No one showed up after like seven minutes and as I left the aformentioned mall operator was going through some poor ladys cart item by item. I was later able to find an unsecured restroom a block away.

Even the strip malls have gone mask-off, this shit sucks.

I hate to say it, but this is the only time it's acceptable to shit in the dressing room

Acquire a bigger, more intimidating tactical vest. Acquire a hurt locker suit if possible

No but that's fucking shitty and petty, yet another casual dehumanizing indignation. The Nazification of the bathroom under end-stage capitalism

Time to start pissing on the floor.

I strongly considered that or leaving via the "alarm will sound when opened" doors but civility prevailed and Burlington Coat Factory, the monument to fascism that it is, won today.

Oh hey, congrats on your victory today.

Burlington Coat Factory

The pinnacle of racist outlet retailers. They do the "well technically I'm not allowed to tell you to union bust and scab" thing but for racial profiling.

that's a lock keypad that's going to get pissed on eventually

Reminds me of grade school teachers replying with "I DUNNO, CAN YOU?" when asked "can I go to the bathroom?"

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago

I have written about this before but 'I DUNNO, CAN YOU?' is just bullying kids for speaking like everyone else. Literally no one says 'may i'.

I also just dont like asking for permission to do things im entitled to. If I gotta go to the can at work or im taking a break, I tell people, I dont ask. People ask me at work if they can go on break when they wanna take one, I know they're just making sure it's a good time to do so cause i'm the one who would know best whether we're about to get slammed or if we're approaching the end of a rush etc. It's also an ESL thing with the phrasing im sure, but part of that kinda makes it feel doubly bad where these phillipino guys twice my age are asking permission to take a break when im not even really their boss. My job just makes it seem that way, im the navigator, not the captain to use a ship metaphor. Anyway. I just repeat that they dont need my permission and to take their time. I'm not gonna debase myself so I can take a shit, to expect it is perverse and weird

This is basically my middle school

They locked all the bathrooms and you had to have a teacher escort you there and back or you'd be nabbed by a security guard and get in trouble

Keep in mind, these are the same teachers who had to teach, which basically meant you couldn't go to the bathroom unless you were on your way to lunch

I still remember holding it for a full eight hours once because we had a substitute and she was not given a bathroom key

By comparison, my high school was the exact opposite and I was just agog at the fact that I was being treated with respect and dignity for once

Tactically ascertaining whether or not you need to urinate.

as an old, i remember a time in the US where keypad/locked bathrooms at retail establishments were rare enough to joke about. generally the provenance of the odd gas station on disused federal highways rendered obsolete by the interstate system, now they are everywhere. they used to blame "addicts", but it was clearly a way to exclude the poor.

and now that everywhere has unhoused people, if not semi-permanently in the area, at least passing through, it is uncommon to find an easily accessible, unsecured bathroom open to the public unless the community has specifically allocated resources for it through a democratic process.

personally, i find cities that don't make going to the bathroom universally easy to be morally disgusting and deserve to have every puddle of piss and pile of shit they get from whatever brave heros can push out.

What they think someone's gonna boof a 2x4 up their rear in the bathroom and walk out with it?

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 17 points 3 days ago

I swear they hire security guards that make me wanna flaunt that im stealing.

I hate stores like that with such a passion. I feel like I can barely go to them without being overcome with rage or wanting to deface merchandise as an act of petty revenge
