It's weird seeing a public space with no ads

[–] [email protected] 45 points 10 months ago

Ohh that's it. I was wondering why it seemed so nice

me in the US knowing damn well that the government would rather nuke their own cites than willingly put a light rail or something in them

It's not Soviet metro tier but it looks nice

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago

Yeah doesn't really much character to it except the one with gold sort of. Looks like any airport

[–] [email protected] 15 points 10 months ago

I want to move to China

Platform screen doors <3

Where do I order my sandwich? Do they even bake their own bread? SMH backwards country

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I know you're joking but many major metro stops I'm China have bakeries, shops, restaurants, etc

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

But the true indicator of civilization is being able to order a meatball sandwich with bread made using yoga mat ingredients

Comrade, I invite you to feast your fourteen eyes on Chinese lunch meat, which is sure to rival even the most vile of swedish concoctions!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

Bullshit, this isn't Chinese. You think I don't know Protoss architecture when I see it?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

that looks so cool, it's very pretty

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

Everyone of these pictures looks like the backdrop for a late 90s EDM music video.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 10 months ago

Looks too nice. Where are the rats? Where are the piles of discarded food? Where are the rats eating the piles of discarded food?

I dont know anything about architecture or art but i prefer the stations in peter and moscow. Just the darker floor tone alone feels more reassuring to me than the bright floors pictured here. Also the wide open layout feels very exposed

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago

I've noticed that a lot of public buildings in China love this style of floor (not sure what it's called). Train stations, airports, etc. this style is very much in vogue, at least since 2008 when they built the old new Beijing airport.

You mean something like this?

(This is the newest station in Moscow)

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

That looks really cool. But I meant the older stations, they looked very homely.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Looks like the entrance to the deathstar lmao

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago

Shit I wonder if I saw this thing being built when I was there

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Reminds me of "The Fifth Element". Cool to see the future happening somewhere.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago

Too shiny, I feel like I'm going to slip on the floor.

Is it post processing making the lighting all glowy? I struggle to imagine it's so glowy with so much bloom in real life. Would love to see a video walk through.

There are practical reasons to having platforms differentiated via lighting and style so I get it. Underground all looking the same makes it easier to get lost. Sometimes the only thing differentiating certain London lines are the words on the walls. Distinct lines with a different style stand out and are easier to navigate because of it.

America is a failed state

[–] [email protected] 4 points 10 months ago

These are....beautiful. It makes me kinda sad that here in amerikkka, this artfulness would be scoffed at as "wasteful".

Kinda agree tbh, very bright

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

I also don't like how bright and showy it is (though I do like the motif of the classical portrait of a tree rendered in those LCD-styled lights), but I still think this is leagues better than the shabby stations I was used to seeing in New York and the lack of advertisements is nice, though that part might be temporary.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

I have nothing original to add, but woah. So beautiful

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Oookay they look very nice, props to China and Godemperor Xi, but I doubt anybody's going to drop acid in there and I think that's kinda sad.
