I was watching it last night. Hero is at a guys night out party in a posh suburb.
He realizes that all these men have gotten as far as they possibly can. They've all got the big jobs and fancy houses, but they are all old enough to realize that they can't live forever.
Now all they can do is spend money on things in hopes that it will make them feel better for a few seconds.

Yesterday my dog got so excited about a stick that she got in an actual fight with her friend about it. We had to put them both in time out for a moment. The stick was removed from the dog park.
