I think this is free (content) update nr 40 since the game launched . I wouldnt be suprised if we hit 50 before they stop support.

I always have fun with this game but my interest doesn't last very long. The gameplay just isn't that deep and it's a shame

I wouldnt be suprised if we hit 50 before they stop support.

Hello Games is an absurdly small studio that as I understand it is wholly owned by Sean, who's mentioned them having cash reserves high enough to keep working on NMS longer than any of them will be alive. I think the only thing that would make them stop their current almost-seasonal release schedule where a dozen people are putting out more content than some 800 person studios is Sean losing interest in the project, except he comes across as an overenthusiastic puppy who's endlessly excited about whatever new thing they're working on.

LNF coming out and being a hit might do it, if that absorbs all their focus moving forwards.

Well I would assume that Light No Fire is gonna take a lot of their ressources when that comes out but that could very well be 1-2 years till then.

Mind you im very hopeful for Light No Fires future cause Hello Games has shown to go far beyond what one can expect in terms of support by like 99% of other developers.

I just think there is a legit chance that Light No Fire is gonna do really good cause Hello Games has a lot of goodwill from people. I would dare say No Mans Sky turn around is almost unique in terms of scale and success and kind of the exception to the rule . Like there are other games like the FInal Fantasy MMO I heard great things about that but there arent exactly a lot of games that go from 0 to hero.

If AAA studios did this we would have sooo many awesome games, it's a shame only HG sees value in maintaining their game and and later most likely games with Light No Fire coming they have shown multiple times how much appreciation they could get if they care about their game but most AAA studios are managed by people too stupid to even have an idea of how to make a good game let alone a great game.

I adore this game. Star Trek meets Minecraft meets pulp sci-fi cover art visual style. It's the game I've dreamed about since I was a kid watching first-run Star Trek TNG.

I tried playing this game again a few months ago and my experience was "oh there's literally not enough sodium or oxygen for me to do anything but frantically run around looking for more" and then I said "fuck this" and uninstalled it again

The key is to build small bases on resource hotspots, and to start with a focus on the resources needed for survival and base building. Rusted metal to refine to the various ferrites to build prefab base modules and mineral/gas extractors, copper to refine to chromatic metal for several things, gold for solar panels, oxygen and sodium for basic survival, multi-biodome base on a good power hotspot for lots of fungal mold to refine to carbon for batteries and to power carbon-fueled tech, runaway mold to refine to nanites, etc. Once you kick start the base building resources and basic survival consumables then you can build tons of bases for everything else really quickly, no more scavenging for basic supplies for hours.

Of course that's just one play style. I've been doing that in an abandoned-universe game the last few months and I find it very relaxing and contemplative. It's almost Red Dwarf-ish, you're the last person in the universe. I've been exploring a star cluster on the edge of the galaxy and setting up dozens of resource bases and a few elaborate decorative bases in locations with great views.

The problem is it's WAY too difficult and tedious to even get to that point. I hit my scanner, head towards the nearest sodium or oxygen, and by the time I get to it I'm essentially barely even breaking even so frantically running on to the next one. Idk whose idea it was to have every start on a hostile planet but they should not be involved in any future game design decisions
