The Internet has fried my brain. All I can think of when I hear the phrase "bad dude" is the old meme spoofing the intro to Bad Dudes for NES:

[-] AngryishHumanoid@lemmynsfw.com 57 points 3 months ago

That bad dude is called Dunkleosteus.

[-] HeroHelck@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 3 months ago

Eh, I like Bad Dude better as a name.

Damnit, now I'm gonna have to replay it again...

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Same. At least it can be completed in like an hour.

[-] gustofwind@lemmy.world 17 points 3 months ago

That’s a bad dude

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 14 points 3 months ago

I believe it's called a Coalacanth

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 30 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Not a terrible guess, but that's the even larger Dunkleosteus terrelli.

[-] SlartyBartFast@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago

you're right!

[-] chuckleslord@lemmy.world 25 points 3 months ago

No, it's a Dunkleosteus.

Coelacanth looks like this:

[-] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 12 points 3 months ago

I recognize that fish, that's an exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Haven't been there in a long time.

[-] piranhaconda@mander.xyz 5 points 3 months ago

THAT'S where I know it from! I went about two years ago.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

his name is Darryl

[-] Deconceptualist@leminal.space 12 points 3 months ago

It's always great to see a big Dunk.

[-] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

America runs on Dunk... no wait oh no no swim away as fast as you can don't run on it!

[-] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago

Oh the annoying guys to hunt in Dave the Diver!

[-] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 months ago

Soooo many fishes could fit that description, but I’m glad my dude found his bad dude. Like, dude.

[-] snooggums@piefed.world 2 points 3 months ago

Now print it at full size!

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Uh, listen Bro. All that sushi i ate before? Just a misunderstanding, right?

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

I'm not a biologist and this may be a stupid question, but are this monster's eyes armored? Armored eyeballs?

[-] roguetrick@lemmy.world 10 points 3 months ago

Your orbits are similar. The hole is where the optic nerve goes.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

Not arguing with you, but what's up with that "bone ring" they have in their orbit? We don't have that.

[-] Tlaloc_Temporal@lemmy.ca 23 points 3 months ago

That's a Scleral Ring and helps to keep the shape of the eye in fish, many reptiles, and birds. Fish don't have round eyes (they're shaped more like M&Ms or chocolate chips), and the ring helps support the shape when swimming. Most rings are just cartilage, but fast swimmers often have bony rings.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

Thank you, I had no idea that reptiles and birds have eyeball rings, too.

[-] roguetrick@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago

Based on this angle, I think you might be more correct. I thought it was recessed.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 6 points 3 months ago

Awww he's winking at me!

How does my hair look?

You think he's into me?

[-] RotSteinFinke@feddit.org 6 points 3 months ago

It's a scleral ring. Lots of animals have that, many including humans don't.

[-] Zerush@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 months ago

There were also other nice guys

And those which still exist

[-] Neverbeaten@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

It looks like Brak.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

What a bonehead

[-] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

it's in animal crossing (new horizons?)
