Just finished watching the Netflix One Piece adaptation and it's honestly a miracle it's as good as it is. I have my grumbles about individual moments and decisions but it's overall just a really entertaining and goofy time and I appreciate they mostly stuck with the source material's visual insanity. I especially salute their decision to depict the fishmen in delightfully campy prosthetic makeup

I guess my main gripe is that they really shied away from depicting any of the ludicrous battle damage that the heroes started receiving by the time they were fighting Kuro in the manga. After a typical arc-ending fight all the main characters are usually stabbed, slashed and beaten to hell and have lost like 20 gallons of inexplicably abundant blood. Kuro just shoves Usopp around and in Luffy's fight against Arlong the latter didn't bite him once or even draw blood, underselling how serious a fight it was meant to be.

I assume it was some sort of practical filming rather than rating concern since they added CGI blood sprays and blade wounds when Zoro slashed people and even showed him cut a guy in half.

I was studying for CompTIA A+ and I got to the different types of LCD displays, one of which is VA (Vertical Alignment). VA reminded me to check if I was accepted for Veterans Affairs healthcare coverage (I was denied). and then I tried to start the process of applying for VA disability benefits, since I've been dealing with suicidal ideation, depression, and anxiety for years. And all that did was make me sadder so I gave up studying and crawled into bed with snacks to watch Beau is Afraid for the second time.
