US boarder agents - show me you Facebook

ME: I deleted it in 2016

BA: okay show me your insta

ME: I don't have insta

BA: wtf.jpg, okay Twitter?

ME: nope.

BA: visibly frustrated ... Reddit then?

ME: deleted that account when they fucked over 3rd party apps.

BA: writing refused to comply, rejected.

Same, but if they’re trained to look for the Voyager icon I could be in “trouble”

But for now, this is the last place I can say it:

I hope Trump is hanged for treason and violently shits himself to death out of fear and panic in the seconds before the noose snaps. And then a buncha hand-scrawled notes confessing his pedophelia, sexual assaults, rapes, and love for AOC’s feet fall from his pockets

[-] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 months ago

I think Signal has an option built it in to disguise the app as something else. Lemmy apps should start adding that function.

[-] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Voyager does have a face-id-to-unlock feature that enable. But yeah, a facade icon/name would be awesome as well

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

They wouldn’t hesitate to hold it to your face to unlock it.

Passcode would be better, but I’m not sure the 5th amendment works at border crossings like it should.

[-] Sarcasmo220@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 months ago

From my understanding it does. The only thing is, that while they have to let citizens back in, they don't have to let their phone back in

Can't speak to a Border Agent if you stay away from that shithole country.

*taps forehead

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

They want to make us all antifa terrorists if we’ve ever dissed capitalism or Christianity. Or christo-fascism presumably.

[-] runner_g@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 months ago

sadly I'm stuck in the center of the shithole (in a thankfully blue area).

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 43 points 2 months ago

I don't think I would be allowed in the US anyway. Given that my last 5 years of social media history is non-existent I suspect they would think I was being subversive.

You're starting to make China look progressive. What are you doing?

[-] aceshigh@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Ditto re social media. I bet not having social media will get you discriminated against for being old.

[-] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

What are you talking about? Your lemmy profile is over two years old… Lemmy is social media.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 2 months ago

It's not linked to my name though is it. So it's not really about me.

Given that Trump's USA is no longer an ally to us in Europe, I'll never set foot in that country again.

[-] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

It's not "Trump's USA", he's just one tiny, orange facet of the same beast, which is world-wide (with USA being the source).

NVIDIA, Apple, Amazon, Walmart, et al find Trump very useful as he is motivated by greed alone.

[-] ysjet@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

You're pretty naive if you think the US is the source, lol.

Is lemmy social media?

If not, i have no social media in the last 5 years except 1 post on facebook trying to rehome a dog.

[-] burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 2 months ago

I don't consider reddit/lemmy as social media. The lack of 'necessity' of having your personal info plastered about and inserted into every exchange makes them something different. They're just a different form of forum, in my opinion, with nested comments instead of a long chain.

[-] tlmcleod@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 months ago

Forums are a type of social media. It's a media platform where you can be social.

[-] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 months ago

Yeah I never really got the whole "forums aren't social media" thing. Only difference I've ever seen is lacking a need for followers which I guess for a lot of people is enough.

It will really depend on if the customs person knows what Jerboa is.

[-] gibmiser@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

I wouldn't volunteer that information....

[-] Tattorack@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

I've been vocally anti-american for nearly 10 years, but the real question is "why would I want to be friends with someone called 'Tindertranslator'?"

I wish Charlie Kirk was alive to see this. Only so he could be shot through the throat. Again.

[-] teslasaur@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Honestly, if you spend that much time on social media, would i want to be friends with you?

[-] Someone8765210932@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

What has time to do with anything? You can spend one hour a month on social media and still make your disdain for Trump and MAGA clear.

I'm on her side

[-] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 months ago

It'd get me shot in certain parts of the USA.

[-] howrar@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 months ago

My genetics already has me barred.

[-] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

~~Trump's~~ USA. The USA is USA, fight back

[-] Someone8765210932@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Honestly true. Especially with how angry these snowflakes get about the smallest things.

Did you truly life, if you didn't make at lease one passing reference to that "I have read some obituaries with great pleasure" quote about Trump? Don't think so.

[-] Sarcasmo220@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 months ago

Mine would get me barred, which is why I deleted voyager and metatext from my phone as I prepare to travel abroad. If they want to look at the facebook account I have not updated the past decade, then whatever.

Lemmy counts.

Edit: After a brief look at your history, you're fine.

[-] popoto@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 months ago

I can show them my social media stuff and give my DNA if Trump gives me the Espstein files without censorship.

[-] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Right!? Like I can guarantee you it isn’t worse than trumps himself… I would like to see the guidelines they are going to judge you on. Lmao, the president probably wouldn’t be able to enter.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

They don't create consistent rules.

[-] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

If I travelled to the US, my latest post would get me and three generations of my family sent to Aligator Alcatraz

[-] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

How about like 12, or whenever he announced his campaign?
