Facing pressure from the Trump administration on Monday, ABC—owned by Disney—announced it would be suspending the late-night television show Jimmy Kimmel Live! “indefinitely,” after the host came under attack from fascists and Trump administration officials over his commentary on the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

All you star wars fans : disney is the empire, not the rebellion.

Yo ho hardy harr! What's this I found sailing the sea? A Star Wars show/movie for me! And your telling me it's available for free? I'll cancel my Disney Plus with glee!

Seriously though, Disney is no artist but we can separate the artist from the art. You're welcome to enjoy Star Wars, just don't pay Disney for it. Fuck Disney.

Best cuts of the original trilogy are fancuts anyways

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I've been sailing the high seas for my favorite old Disney movies for a while now 🦜

Former Star Wars fans, I hope.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

From what I've seen, most already embrace this.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I’ve been anti Disney since they bought Star Wars. Always have seen them as an evil copyright abusing empire.

[-] [email protected] 10 points 2 days ago

it's helped you develop muscles to help other people who are waking up to that they need to join in. you already know alternatives

Nah, the two of us will take those culeros down with our wallets alone or my name isn't Joey Jo Jo Jr. Shabadoo

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

I know. Lots of great boycotts lately I can’t support because that’s just my whole life already lol

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

Literally the only thing these giant companies will listen to.

There was great success back in the day when they kidnapped or killed the CEOs.

Wow. He didn't even smacktalk Kirk himself. he just said that the shooter was a MAGA-head and that Trump didn't seem to bother that much.

Have to make an example to keep the npcs in line.

The entire point of this is promoting self censorship in us, the ordinary people. We should be afraid to say what we think if its not politically correct.

It works too. Even Lemmy has plenty of people supporting censorship of opinions.

It works too. Even Lemmy has plenty of people supporting censorship of opinions.

Especially, if ygu have the "wrong" opinion on a major conflict or what does and does not count as genocide.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

That's not censorship, that's just being called out for having a, to the other user, bad opinion.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

Its censorship if its being moderated away or threads are being locked, or if people are being banned for being "trolls". There are many forms of censorship.

https://www.dexerto.com/tv-movies/how-to-boycott-abc-action-plan-revealed-after-jimmy-kimmel-cancelation-3253382/

  • cancel Disney+, Hulu, ESPN
  • Perry Sook is responsible for Nexstar and cancelling Jimmy Kimmel. Nexstar's phone number is 972-373-8800
  • Cancel any planned trips to Disney’s theme parks. Halt any purchases of Disney memorabilia. Try to do these cancelations over the phone or chat. Tell them it’s because you don’t want any of your money going to the Disney corporation so long as Kimmel is off the air
  • If you live near a Disney Store or the Disney Parks or a Disney/ABC corporate office, organize a group of friends to picket in front of the building/property and encourage employees to consider calling in sick (don’t be mean to them though, they may be in a tough place)

List of advertisers on ABC - boycott the products as well as cancelling Hulu/Disney:

Yeah, that's, like, every single cell phone service provider and a ton of medically necessary, life-medications. You can't just boycott this shit. That's to say nothing about the insurance companies, which are sometimes not even a choice for a lot of people.

[-] [email protected] 13 points 2 days ago

You individually don't have to do everything. Drop the one least important holding from your life, and let the company know why you did it

Nobody has to die. A fuckton of us just have to do without Disney+ for a bit.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 2 days ago

It's honestly shocking to me that anybody is still subscribed to Disney+ at all. This is far from the only reason to not support Disney, and it right now is when you're deciding to boycott Disney, you're just doing it performatively or you've been burying your head in the sand for way too long.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

I'm not going to berate anyone for doing the right thing a little after I personally did

[-] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago

That's not what it's really about. I'm saying that people doing it now only care because of this one thing that they are being outrage-baited into caring about temporarily. It's performative.

[-] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

unfortunately this is not going to work as a protest just cancelling shit

look up all the companies and see who controls it then look up to see who controls them

all operated by the same megacorps such as the news and other media

all United States companies are tied in with everyday life just one example on your list is insurance and imagine trying to take care of our elders with the small number of resources available on top of them not having a way to ring out

and there is no other company to go to because just like unilever everything is controlled by the same groups

fixing this willing require trashing the whole goddamn thing and starting over which is maybe the only solution left

Odds on how long until they take down Daily Show, John Oliver, South Park and SNL?

I give it less than a month, gotta keep distracting from the Epstein files.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

South park apparently has a super expensive contract for 5 seasons, so cancelling then before that may not be feasible for them. Depending ofcourse on how much they cross the lines.

[-] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

FCC can just make them pay if they don't by stopping or not approving something they want done now. That may cost them more, which would make the decision easier. It's really strange seeing every single step taken this year, and yet we still haven't done a single thing about it.

[-] [email protected] 16 points 2 days ago

Disneys going full circle with the Nazi support hey?

For, like, a whole bunch of reasons - not just this.
