Aside from not just forgiving them obviously

It used to be every few months there'd be a hurricane or a tornado or something and a national disaster would be declared and my loans would be made current or whatever, kicking the can down the road until i actually have to start paying

Yeah that stopped when Biden was president and it sure as shit wasn't due to lack of national disasters

Fuck the Democrats

under trump 1, my loan repayments were paused while i continued to accrue credit for public service loan forgiveness. to be clear, i fulfilled the terms of my original promissory note/contract that were 15+ years old. i never received any relief from those absolutely dogshit terms, despite always being a good paperwork boy and acting in good faith. i have nothing but venom for the servicers.

under biden, i reached my 10 years and been filing updates with the servicer/DoE every year along the way, but due to the completely bungled court case, my forgiveness was partial and frozen. i didn't have to make payments, but it just sat there for literally 2+ years as id periodically get irrelevant but worrying emails of payments restarting or to update my contact info while the DoE took over the public service loan forgiveness program from the SECOND failed private loan servicer. not to mention, it just say on my credit report like an anvil.

i assumed i would be cooked when trump was elected, but in the days after his inauguration, my loan was finally approved as discharged and removed from my credit report.

im not trying to say trump is a better steward of the administrative state, but key biden people and the overall policy of that administration on student loans were objectively abysmal and i am certain there was a directive to play politics with the forgiveness program by sitting on loans already qualified for discharge to scare us into supporting biden+kopmala's vision for empire.

jokes on them PSL lmao!

it's true that biden succeeded, after many failed attempts, to pass legislation making it illegal to cancel student debt if you go bankrupt. that was as senator though.

As President, he did "pass" a loan forgiveness program that was designed to fail by tying it to COVID, when there is plenty of laws already giving the president the authority to cancel student debt that he conveniently ignored.

Without having to know the details, your instincts are right. He worked for the debt-holders his whole career.

all Trump had to say during the election was "I stopped student loan payments and the Democrats restarted them" and he instant wins without worry
