Now, disconnect the water, electricity, and network.

[-] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 64 points 5 months ago

Ah, the French approach. Highly efficient.

[-] Klear@quokk.au 14 points 5 months ago

Unless they react with the Russian approach.

There used to be a story how a Russian military base wasn't paying its bills so their electricity got cut, so the soldiers just went to the nuclear power plant nearby, occupied it and turned it back on.

No idea how true it is, and because of Ukraine, it's impossible to google this.

[-] Valmond@lemmy.world 21 points 5 months ago

The russian approach: kill the hostages, problem solved.

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

No hostages, no problem.

[-] Ferrous@lemmy.ml 0 points 5 months ago

No idea how true it is, and because of Ukraine, it's impossible to google this.

That's because this is complete bullshit that came right out of your ass. You CAN Google this via: "russia miltiary occupies nuclear plant before:2014-01-01" - of which there are zero results. Maybe stop making shit up regardless of the fun you're having in fantasy land.

[-] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 86 points 5 months ago

Fuck yeah. These pieces of shit deserve to feel uncomfortable every second of their fucking lives. Fucking traitors to humanity.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 69 points 5 months ago

Objectively hilarious, but I can't believe they don't have a set of boltcutters in there somewhere.

We sure they didn't chain it to keep the protest out?

[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 60 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

They probably just started filming as soon as the crooks noticed. With these vids its all about framing and timing, because 5 minutes later that gate was probably open and everyone arrested. Still a cool protest idea tho.

[-] stoy@lemmy.zip 36 points 5 months ago

Are there portable arc welders?

How quick can you weld a few pieces of steel across the gates?

These questions a purely academic.

[-] porksnort@slrpnk.net 51 points 5 months ago

Yes there are and they are less than $200 for a full setup, these are the wire fed type you can get at a Harbor Freight.

The power supply is the trickiest part, but the low end welders only need a 20amp circuit, which is a typical power level that might serve a suburban bedroom. You would need a vehicle but even a couple of deep cycle lead-acid batteries and an converter/inverter would power several minutes of welding, more than enough as typical spot welds only require ~10 seconds of arc time.

[-] tpyo@lemmy.world 15 points 5 months ago

That's a very informative comment and I'll save it to base some research on

But more interesting is the sculpture you mentioned. I'd love to see if you wouldn't mind sharing!

[-] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

Sculpture deserves its own post. Preferably a video of the creation process if you have it.

That's cool, do you have any pictures to share?

[-] cynar@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago

There are portable power banks (generally known as power stations) that can put out that sort of power. 2.5-3kw is expensive, but not hideously.

You get batteries and inverter all in a portable package.

[-] 5in1k@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago

If we’re cobbling this together then we should just get a few lifepo4 12v 100ah for a couple hundred dollars. You could get 3 or 4: 1200 watt batteries for the price of one 1500 watt Jackery.

[-] Inkstainthebat@pawb.social 8 points 5 months ago

I'm with @rooty@lemmy.world that sounds sick and I wanna see that

[-] tankfox@midwest.social 6 points 5 months ago

Thermite doesn't require any electricity

[-] caboose2006@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Yeah but thermite welding can be tricky. But a cool light show regardless.

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 months ago

You can make a stuck welder with nothing but a couple pairs of vice grips thick wire (good old jumper cables), some stick electrodes and a couple car batteries in series.

I think the elecroboom guy did it on stage at a ted talk once.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

It takes 5 seconds to climb that fence.

[-] AlexLost@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

You think those ice agents could climb? Especially in their tacticool cosplay gear?! The fence is also designed not to be easy to climb in case you didn't notice.

[-] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

I was wrong, it would take me only 3 seconds.

[-] AlexLost@lemmy.world 1 points 5 months ago

Again, you are not an ice agents. They aren't hiring the best and brightest...

[-] AA5B@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Great opportunity for some person in security to “misplace” the boltcutters

[-] thedruid@lemmy.world 59 points 5 months ago

A federal facility without a bolt cutter? What a bunch if morons.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 34 points 5 months ago

The clay of the West.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 8 points 5 months ago

these people are not a bright bunch.

[-] Etterra@discuss.online 1 points 5 months ago

Don't worry, they'll have ICE use the ones they allegedly use to allegedly cut off the pinky toes of everyone they deport.

[-] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 19 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

i think this was a good idea

[-] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago

everyone agrees

[-] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 10 points 5 months ago

Lock ‘em up!

[-] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 8 points 5 months ago

This is UNLAWFUL DETAINMENT and the Perps need to be DEPORTED!

-People who SUPPORT ICE!

[-] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 6 points 5 months ago

Well now yer fish are in the barrel. You know what to do.

[-] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Check the PH and clean the filter to make sure the fish stay healthy?

[-] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

There seems to be no reference to this that is not reddit, facebook, x, threads, or instagram. Not sure what that means. Just an observation. I cant access the video for some reason.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

At least they're safe in there.

[-] Fenrisulfir@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 months ago

Why can’t these fucking potatoes climb the fence? What a bunch of bastards!

[-] Ernstrommel@lemmy.world -2 points 5 months ago

This is technically keeping them hostage.
