Reforging the shards of Narsil into a big-ass sickle and using it to force a battalion of dead Trotskyites to uphold their oath to Lenin

This years expansion to Endless Struggle is going to be fucking sick. I mean, I'm not sure how they can top last years expansion. Reforging the Soul of Socialism and purifying Corrupted Stalin was sick. Using Juche Necromancy to bring back Lenin and the Red Army to destroy Grand Litch Biden was epic.

But this time!? A LOTR tie in? I mean normally I'd call this revisionist but its fucking cool. Endless Struggle: The Long March to Mordor is going to be fucking awesome. It turns out defeating Grand Litch Biden meant his Vizier, Harris, was next in line, but through a mixture of arrogance and a limited understanding of Liberalmancy a rift was opened allowing for Dark Lord Trump and his homunculus Vance to fuse with the primordial power of Sauron.

Little did the liberals know, however, it wasn't just villains who were transported into the realm of struggle from Middle Earth. I heard a rumor that the main quest line involves:

Reforging the shards of Narsil into a big-ass sickle and using it to force a battalion of dead Trotskyites to uphold their oath to Lenin

There's also a siege on the port capital of New Zyork but its kind of a side quest. Its hard to say if that'll be worth it. Has to have better loot then that fucking icepick last year.

Gondor needs no king.

Is there any source for this? I can’t find anything except twitter posts about it.

It's very difficult to find things for Viggo... I suspect he has employed people at some point that work in removing search results and he's actively made it very difficult to search for things about him or his views.

What I can say is that he was anti iraq war when it wasn't cool to be against it in america. He's pro-Cuba. He's pro-Palestine. His wife is Catalan and he's been a participant in Catalan independence agitation. He supported Bernie back in the peak period, but he's since called Bernie a warhawk.

Now, any one of these by themselves I'd say could also make someone a lib. But together? Signs point to him being somewhere left of liberal.

Googling him is hard as fuck for an A list celebrity. I strongly believe that he has someone actively removing his search results.

This one is interesting:

“Yeah, I’ve been called antisemitic and I got so much shit for speaking out against the Iraq invasion, but it was a huge waste of material resources and manpower.”

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/apr/05/viggo-mortensen-interview-jauja

Wearing his "they call me antisemitic" with pride openly in newspaper interviews as far back as 2015. We all know that's for anti-zionism before it was cool.

EDIT: Libbiest stuff I can find is some support for Ukraine. Didn't really said anything other than vague anti-warism and wearing the coat of arms trident on a tshirt though.

[-] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago

I am willing to cut people some slack on Ukraine because it takes a pretty specifically ML brain to come to the correct conclusion

[-] [email protected] 13 points 1 week ago

Thanks, yeah seems like the quote would not be out of context for him.

I'm pretty sure Mortenson is a bit of a Lefty, I remember him paying a visit to Cindy Sheehan when she was protesting Bush jr. He also starred in the Lefty movie Mr Fantastic.

edit: to clarify, his visit to Sheehan is not libshit. Sheehan was a vocal supporter of the Pink Tide in Latin America, especially Hugo Chavez, Liberals hated her for that.

Sketchy murderhobo using necromancy to usurp the throne of settler-colonial country and retvrn to tradition of ~~genocide~~ fading off other people?

[-] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

it's weird they don't talk about how aragorn is 1) literally of divine, not just elven, lineage and 2) related to arwen i wonder what Tolkien was trying to say there libertarian-approaching

[-] [email protected] 19 points 1 week ago

TBH, his relation to Arwen is about 20 degrees of separation.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 1 week ago

Yeah but i said this to my partner today but like if it's so distant it doesn't matter then why mention it j .r "it's not my fetish" r. Tolkien

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

Wasn't it only mentioned in the appendices, where their entire genealogy was described?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 6 days ago

It can be pieced together from Elrond describing his ancestry in Fellowship and Legolas commenting that Aragorn is of the line of Luthien in Returb of the King

[-] [email protected] 9 points 1 week ago

Now I can't help but imagine a modern Tolkien writing one of those Transported to Another World Where I've Enslaved My Elven Step-cousin type light novels

I think on point 1, Tolkien would argue that Melian was not any more divine than the first Elves or Men. Angels aren't God, even if Men viewed them as such.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Then how could she could do that magic barrier thing then? She's at least as divine as Gandalf and i feel life if Gandalf had canon children they obviously be Magic/ Special/the protagonist etc

Compared to just some elf yknow

[-] [email protected] 4 points 6 days ago

In Fellowship of the Ring, Galadriel (who learned from Melian) comments that she doesn't understand what Sam means by "magic". What the Elves and Maiar have over Men isn't supernatural or divine, it's sufficiently advanced technology. The Maiar have a more fundamental understanding of and connection to the world because they were present for and part of its creation, and the Elves (at least, the Ñoldor like Galadriel) were taught by them directly.

She was his grand-grand-etc-cousin 6500 years apart. Even for Dunedain that's a lot of generations.
