vote

The short-lived provision, which will officially be repealed on August 28, required Missouri employers to provide workers with an hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours of work. Businesses with 15 or more employees were required to provide up to 56 hours of earned paid sick time per year, and businesses with fewer than 15 employees were required to provide at least 40 hours of paid sick time.

...

Throughout the process of pushing H.B. 567 through the Legislature, Missouri Republicans openly voiced contempt for voters who supported the paid sick leave and minimum wage initiative. One GOP lawmaker, state Rep. Mitch Boggs, said, “Of course the people voted for it.”

“It’d be like asking your teenager if he wanted a checkbook,” said Boggs.

How old is this fuck? I'd bet money that half of teenagers have never seen a checkbook and at least 90% have never written a check.

His page doesn't say, but he has eight children and twelve grandchildren, and his "family enjoys rodeos and living out their cowboy heritage, blending tradition and service in every aspect of their lives."

Some of his most recently sponsored bills:

HB 1691 - (3271H.01I) Prohibits the state and political subdivisions from contracting with employers or companies that engage in discrimination against unvaccinated persons

HB 1692 - (3270H.01P) Creates provisions relating to employer liability for injuries from required immunizations

Maybe entrusting teenagers with some basic responsibility as they develop into full grown adults, while you still are in close proximity to offer guidance is a good thing?

My kids absolutely will have (secured) credit cards and bank accounts when they turn 16. (At least I hope to have a reasonable amount of trust in them by that age, if that isn't there, then that's probably on me).

Obviously it's good to teach children how to be responsible with money. I'm talking about paper checkbooks being increasingly uncommon. I still have 249 of 250 checks in my most recent checkbook because I used it exactly once for a contractor six years ago. Otherwise it's to pay rent to old fogie landlords because there's other, easier ways to move money.

I think the last time I wrote a check was when I was a teenager lmao. Uni was still on an old system and I had to write a check for tuition when I was 19.

of course the people voted for it!

Missouri regularly goes red because they have so much faith in you, and this is the sneering condescension you repay them with. At least say fucking thank you, you worthless pig.

It’d be like asking your teenager if he wanted a checkbook

Oh my God, are you even aware you’re the little kid in this scenario? You’re throwing a hissy fit because the people who made you rich asked for one little thing in return. And checkbook? This ain’t the 1950s anymore, maybe that’s why you’re confused not every worker thinks a penny an hour is good enough.
