Theory can give me out of control feelings of excitement, and that's really bad for me. I've been mostly abstaining for years after reading a few articles. Even with things more psychology related, like Will to Change by Bell Hooks, I try but cannot deal with the raw feelings.

Connecting the dots is so exciting it can be overwhelming. Reading theory makes me want to go around and tell everyone mindblowing facts. Who else has difficulty containing their excitement in a way that can get out of control? How do you calm down? It'd be so good if I could read and chill.

Why make them? I kind of know nothing.

I take edibles and I run

It's the two good things about my town

Affordable cannabis and a spacious park with a paved track

Do you do both at once? That's interesting. Ive never heard of someone doing that. What do you like about it?

Box breathing is literally how the cia death squads handle their feelings. It works.

Have you tried reading theory that's more boring or impenetrable? I've not had this problem before so I'm just spitballin

I don't know wjat you mean exactly, but i need good smooth storytelling, which is why I love Parenti's essays and speeches so much.

Why do you need good, smooth storytelling? Isn't that what is making you manic? What about Hegel or Kant? Have you read those?

[-] [email protected] 3 points 2 weeks ago

I need it because that's pretty much the only reason I read. Maybe I should try other kinds of stuff. Are there any works by Hegel or Kant that you find enjoyable?

Think it all through. Tell other people (if they're available). Then, read two more lines, get excited again, repeat...

Going through really good stuff takes me a long long time

Maybe slow it down? 10 pages a day, adjusted to what works for you?

1 page a day feels like too big of a rush of excitement. Even an article as short as a long comment feels like that. I can feel my brain doing huge skateboard tricks.

we need /c/notheory to help guide these souls away from sin, complete with increasingly esoteric advice on how to practice abstinence and the superpowers that come with not reading theory
