This throws the equality act into all kinds of issues. There will need to be a rewrite. Eventually when that rewrite happens it will occur with a misogynistic homophobic hate group funded by friend-to-nazis JK Rowling currently holding the ear of government.
I'll be bad, but remember that not too long ago there were laws criminalising homosexuality (and often trans people got caught in the crossfire.) I know a few old butch lesbian types who would pretend to be gay cis men so the others could escape during a raid since the laws didn't effect them as much.

I think that the best thing you can do, right now, is to reach out to the transgender people in your lives and tell them you care, and if applicable, that you love them. This goes doubly so for the ones in the UK. I imagine that most, if not all of us really need to be told that someone gives a shit.
Yeah, there's much, much more to be done but I think that would be a nice place to start.

Trans people are super brave and awesome and i love them! Their courage to be who they are, and their description of "something doesn't fucking fit" literally inspired me to look inside myself and come out as ace! No I'm not exaggerating! I owe a lot of who i am rn to just lurking threads and learning new ways to understand gender! I love y'all so much it's probably a lil creepy! I'm not a chaser! oh no that seems like something a chaser would say! Ill shut up now!
