Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

"VP of something or other" is a title banks typically give to middle management iirc, definitely far from CEO down unfortunately (even if some ghoulishness is a prerequisite for her position)

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

Not even middle management, just a senior employee

You can get it after like 4 years lol

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 week ago

VP is the first step after associate at the big four US banks.

I don't think this is a :mario-dance: but regardless; another Tango Down

[–] [email protected] 113 points 1 week ago (5 children)

having trouble formulating this thought but

the available information points to the death being femicide / intimate partner violence / abuse

like sometimes we have "critical support" for "comrade cancer" etc. but it's hard to get behind what is decribed as a fucking woman beating death as some sort of class victory.

[–] [email protected] 59 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It 100% is domestic violence. I don't support, including no critical support for, the violence, but I also don't waste tears for dead bankers.

nobody was asking you to cry for anyone.

I don't cry for almost any articles I read about deaths including those who were great people.

I really have a hard time tho with the idea of "tango down". That makes it sounds like you are siding with the aggressor in this situation. It isn't like "comrade cancer" where the adulation is directed towards just some natural process that did the deed against all available human interventions. It was a human being, probably a cis man, probably who had some sort of sexual/romantic relationship (at least in his mind) whose hands (or an object they held) literally hit this woman over and over and over again until she bled to death, or until she had a stroke or an infarction or something.

In the history of class struggle, we rarely conduct assassinations in this manner. We are killed like this routinely. The method of death suggests top-down. Even though she was a banker and probably scum. It is overall I think a bad omen that women even at this level cannot protect themselves from petty men bullshit.

I understand where you are coming from. Truthfully I feel worse for making you feel bad, and in the interest of our own solidarity I apologize and I'll leave it alone.

ok, i get you are backing down

but shit dude my feelings are of no consequence. adhere to what you said, or have indecision, or change your mind, based on your mind. not on my emotions. who cares of my emotions.

don't back down to save my feelings.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 week ago

I haven't changed my mind, but this isn't the place nor are you the person that should be on the receiving end.

[–] [email protected] 39 points 1 week ago

Leave it to Hellworld to even take the fun out of a CEO getting killed.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Fully agree here. Especially since the motivation was likely not rooted in material politics there's no need to cheer it.

Also, I'm not going to condone adventurism, but also any adventurists, if you do it brace-dark-cowboy

Don't do it liz-society

But if you do, be clean about it, no need to beat someone to death ypg-brace.

But yeah I don't think this is praxis, just a bad thing happened to a bad person shrug-outta-hecks

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 week ago

I don't know, I'm not saying it's cool in this situation, but beating a Nazi or some piece of shit like that to death is pretty badass, even though it's not as clean.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 week ago

good post and my thoughts as well

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 week ago

Yeah, two things to take into account.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So we're just blindly supporting murder now as long as the person is a corpo?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What do you mean by blind, and what do you mean by support? I don't think anyone here is in a position to affect the outcome of this situation either way, the most we can do is decide how to feel about it. So the real question is "are we happy when corpos die" and like...yeah, usually.

This one is so-so, not very high ranking and went out in an ugly personal way unrelated to her actions. I feel the same way here as I would about, for example, a career cop who dies of an overdose and is found by his young kid. It's normal to have empathy for a person dying, especially from a cause that's horrifyingly relatable because it cuts across all classes, like addiction and intimate partner violence. At the same time, it's also correct to note an enemy down, and to extend that empathy to the many victims of the machine they were knowingly serving, whose purpose is to facilitate the visiting of profitable violence on millions of others.

This seems more like a domestic dispute gone wrong.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 1 week ago

The title bloat in MEGACORP America is nonsense. "vice president of trade and working capital sales" could be a fancy term for middle management who makes some decent money. This certainly not one of the final bosses of capital, this is barely even a name special enemy.

Also this seems really "domestic abuse"-y.

Huh, I read this as that the killer was beaten to death...
