Based on where he was I think la guardia or maybe even Newark would have been safer bets than going all the way down to jfk.

I’d like to think he is too. But I don’t. That man will get caught. Things like this will start the working class getting uppity, and those who hold the purse strings cannot afford to allow another incident like this. It will be squashed.
Only 40% of homicides get solved and nearly all of those are instances where the person's identity is very easily obtained by witnesses or family or something. Most homicides involve someone who knew the victim, or at least had prior encounters with them.
In this case it's an unknown assailant shooting someone he had presumably never met, and also a person who took pains to conceal their identity. Cops are incredibly lazy and solving murders often relies on luck as much as investigation.
This kind of thing doesn't have a lot of precedent though. It's been a while since a successful high profile assassination. Most assassinations are solved because someone captures the assassin right at the scene, within minutes. This guy has been MIA for over a day with still no name, no identity, not even a description other than probably a white male.
The assassin is probably not in New York anymore, possibly not even in the USA. He/she could be in Paris by now. The only way I could imagine the feds/cops find this person is DNA or a fingerprint links them to someone who's already in a database, then who knows. This seemed planned so the assassin could very well be holed up in an embassy Julian Assange style.

I may have exaggerated a bit. Fingerprint evidence is almost entirely subjective analysis, relying on the person looking at the prints being ethical and unbiased. A perfect description of cops, if you ask me.
There have been a lot of high profile cases where fingerprint evidence was a "100% match", even though that would been impossible. The Madrid train bombings 20 years ago are the first case that immediately comes to mind—a guy halfway across the world, who had no passport, and hadn't left the country in a decade, had "his" fingerprints all over the bombs. But, he'd recently converted to Islam, and the wAr On TeRrOr had just started firing on all cylinders in Iraq, so he got Patriot Act'd for a month.
Fingerprints may very well be unique, but subjective analysis ain't real science.

The NYPD claims to already have DNA evidence and if that's the case I have to assume they have no idea who it belongs to or can't 100% link it to the assassinatoon, otherwise they would have put a name out already.

Based on the DNA found on the water bottle and candy wrapper, the shooter was a giant rat, apparently

Not to mention cops hate it when expert witnesses testify on DNA evidence because turns out real life is not CSI: Miami and DNA evidence is not really conclusive at all.
So them having DNA, even if true, means diddly squat.
I don't know, those photos are still up and everywhere. If that's somebody else, wouldn't they have found out by now and made some sort of effort to clear their name to not get got?

it's been 48 hours and i wonder if there's a chance still and i also wonder how the billionaire class is going to respond. bodyguards? will there be more? will there be another bonnie and clyde? (i hope that we're in another era of bank robbers and robin hood types becoming folk heros like they were in the late-19th/early-20th century; they would OWN social media).
they have no idea what he looks like, other than white male and a rough age range. if there isn't enough evidence to find personal info about him, that's the end of it. a cop could look him in the eye and have no idea.

The NYPD has released pictures of his face with his mask down, if it is him they have a mostly clear image now unfortunately.
Edit: examining the images now though I'm not totally convinced it's the same person

I made an edit, I hadn't looked super close but I think you're right, nose is different, different coat and bag, and the police are that incompetent to think it's him and be wrong. Or they just have so much pressure to 'do their job' that they had to release something.

But wanting something to happen is neither here nor there. Pay attention to how much this is disturbing the rich and those in power. They’re going to look long and hard for this man. The man has to have everything just so. Cops only need a bit of luck once or twice. Odds are that he gets caught, despite how badly most of America doesn’t want him to.

I hope they don't find him. But if they do, I hope he goes on trial and the jury immediately nullifies. Like, 5 minutes deliberation, not guilty on all counts. Hell, need an indictment for murder charges right? The grand jury could nullify and it's over.
Except if he was in custody the police would almost certainly murder him. On the other hand, he's probably white so maybe not?
