Negro Matapacos (“Cop-Killer Blackie”) was a famous stray dog from thestreets of Santiago who joined student protests across the city from 2010, and in particular during the 2011 movement for free education.

he was a stray dog from the streets of Santiago, and began joining student demonstrations in 2010. The following year, one of the biggest social movements since the fall of the military dictatorship began, fighting for free education and against neoliberal reforms to the education system.

Negro Matapacos was then seen regularly at every demonstration, defying tear gas and water cannons and always barking at or attacking only the riot police, and never any students or rioters. He subsequently continued to appear sporadically at future demonstrations, and hung out on university campuses, becoming beloved to student and radical movements as a symbol of resistance to violent authority.

His last days were spent resting with people who took him in, with a crowdfunded veterinarian.

Some people who knew him sent us some of their memories of him, telling us how he defied tear gas and water cannons, and only ever barked at or attacked police officers, and never students or rioters.

After his death, his legacy lives on in songs, street murals, an award-winning documentary and in the memories of all those who knew him. He was a good boy.

I heard a Colombian girl getting tutored in English today and the following was said: “I like Shakira. She. Is. Rich. I. Am. Poor.”

The opening to #203 that released right after Kissinger died about him arriving in heaven is so fucking funny

I have been watching the new season of Futurama and I just don't understand how the editing can be this fucked up. The transitions and pacing are so jarring it completely deflates many of the jokes. Seriously who do I have to contact to yell at them to fix this?

GW should just kill off the emprah let imperium collapse and make mechanicus (the most interesting human faction) the dominant human faction. They wouldnt even really have to give up the only thing they care (space marine models) since spesh marines chapters already practically have their own mini empires anyways.

I had a look behind the curtain last week at a defence engineering company (they also service the mining companies here).

God damn, they are badly organised, and they do not take opsec as seriously as random bunches of internet nerds. Like, I get that stuff like assigning parts numbers is going to have an amount of institutional inertia, but they do it based on indexing which parts get a drawing (so a part that does not get a drawing does not get a part number), and a project will often reference several drawings (and those parts might cross several projects). Also while they had a registered system for logging visitors, you could bypass it trivially. It would be easier to gain access if you knew some names though.

Also heard some of the people in the workplace talk about star signs, which made me reflect on my hippy friends talking about the same stuff and the banality of the MIC, as well as the cultural coding of "who is really into star signs, must be hippy chicks".

I'm on vacation visiting family. I went for a walk on the beach and dropped my vape pen/what was left of it. I have a bunch of Delta 8/CBD gummies on me, but I have been trying to quit, and I guess this is my sign to just get it over with lol.

working rn & my python script which aggregates data from lots of files and just keeps the useful (for me) stuff now prepopulates the output with an excel formula i-cant

formula = '''=NOT(XOR(EXACT(E3,"-"),EXACT(E2,"-")))'''

it seems stupid and hacky but also clever, because the output is going to read in excel anyway and it's way easier than refactoring this quick aggregator script to do the calculation itself. No one i can talk to about this IRL gives a fuck, I think this is kinda funny. Also fuck excel, it's powerful but also sucks ass agony

The main application for VR i can see is putting on a VR emulator and playing SNES and going waow it feels like I'm actually sitting around all day playing games.

Or putting on a movie and going waow it feels like I'm actually sitting around watching a movie.

I've always used the default mouse sensitivity options. Should I experiment with increasing it?

So I stayed at a friends house recently and I walked to pick up a prescription for them and I definitely want to live in a 15 minute city someday. They can even get to a supermarket with a 10 minute bus ride.

Sadly, for the moment I do not. But someday...

Everything to do with the USA's own Imperial Backyard. From hispanics to the originary peoples of the americas to the diasporas, South America to Central America, to the Caribbean to North America (yes, we're also there).

Post memes, art, articles, questions, anything you'd like as long as it's about Latin America. Try to tag your posts with the language used, check the tags used above for reference (and don't forget to put some lime and salt to it).

Here's a handy resource to understand some of the many, many colloquialisms we like to use across the region.
