And it's like what the fuck man? It's more than 200 years since the bombs dropped and you live in an area which has never had a formal organised state (and have said you've visited DC another place like that), let alone one that had policemen.

Like guards, security, militia etc. But not police. And like I get that maybe policemen became just a synonym for those things, but Deacon being one of the more anarchist members of Railroad is clearly using it in the historic sense.

Also policemen that might exist in the NCR (on the complete opposite coast) probably do suck some of the time (like if they are putting down striking workers for Brahmin Barons) but the act of rebuilding a functioning nation-state like the NCR for all it's flaws is kind of historically progressive compared to just being settlements and raiders.

Can anyone give me a recommendation for an area to visit in Prince Edward Island (Canada) for an overnight trip in July? I'll be in my ancestral Maritimes homeland then, and was thinking of doing an overnight trip to PEI while I'm in the area. I like the slime anime (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken) despite it being isekai trash and also despite the current season being about 70% meetings by runtime. It's just Nice seeing the MC, Rimuru, turning enemies into friends and making a country out of the dispossessed monster people of the world. The worldbuilding is interesting and extensive, and people do things for coherent material reasons. Also, Rimuru is very gender.

Honestly in terms of automation and productivity for coding and data jobs, I'm actually not convinced that AI will be a bigger improvement than various APIs and tools maturing. Like so many examples my coworkers show me are already 3 API calls or clicking like a "plot this for me plz" button. I think the good times might be in the past for a lot of STEM jobs, but the productivity tools that made our labour less required predated llm adoption

I hate having to explain the code base to my manager who's 2 levels above me. We're both self taught, I know they're busy but I can tell they haven't spent time understanding the code base because they ask me such basic questions. It urked me that they volunteered as our team architect too when their design choices aren't thought out.

I'm left out of project meetings and it stresses me out getting half baked requirements and told to just copy previous code to get it done quick. Suggestions I add get shot down as "not now" or just flat out no or it'll be too much and I feel held back.

But lately I'm pushing back and I think it's getting on their nerves, or maybe it's just my own nerves bubbling up. Either way, I can't say I'm not learning from the experience
