Curious, how'd you explain it?
I explained the afghan Soviet war and what operation cyclone was. Sent my mom the famous warrior on the road for peace newspaper. She was in shock. I then explained how for radicals like Osama who I then reminded her was trained in planning attacks and organizing due to us taxpayers, stationing troops in Saudi Arabi was tanta mount to religious sacrilege turned Osama against the US. The rest was simply explaining how the US basically paid for 9/11 with it's own hands

lol i did too recently. didn't get her to say america deserved 9/11. i was focusing more on cold war blowback, like the CIA going around boosting right wing parties and wiping out even the most vaguely leftist ones.
trying to explain to her why "the world is so crazy now (full of right wing governments/right wingers)" in her words
she did say israel is a modern nazi state
Had this conversation with my partner and they did the same thing. They said the thing unprompted. “So… it sounds like America really deserved it.” The next day they got banned from Twitch but we’re still waiting on the mansion money.
