Somehow democrats are able to continuously surpass their own worst version of themselves. It's actually incredible.

I was just reading an article about how candy companies are trying to make GLP-1 (Ozempic) resistant candy that is effectively hyper-addicting and restarts the cycle of addiction.

Incredible how bad capitalism is for society and it's affect on food processes in order to drive needless profits.

We are also changing how remote playback works for streaming personal media (that is, playback when not on the same local network as the server). The reality is that we need more resources to continue putting forth the best personal media experience, and as a result, we will no longer offer remote playback as a free feature. This—alongside the new Plex Pass pricing—will help provide those resources. This change will apply to the future release of our new Plex experience for mobile and other platforms.

Who would've thought that when you raze neighborhoods to the ground, force the dislocation of tens of thousands of people, and systematically detonate their schools and healthcare institutions there would be repercussions from them?

Not me that's forsure.

As an added note, they deported multiple children to Colombia the other day. Half the people they've arrested in specific areas have zero criminal records. Some are even US citizens. This is not for immigrants, this a Latino concentration camp.

I know two people first hand who have been here for over 30 years with no criminal records who are being detained. These are the people being sent to Guantanamo.

Hey guys! Has anyone had success migrating a Plex server from Windows to Linux in recent years? I'm mostly concerned about losing watch history / users (having to reinvite).

I found this Reddit thread on the issue and it seemed like a simple copy and paste of the DB file. I attempted following both the official directions from their guide and from the Reddit post and ran into a SQLite DB error similar to what another user experienced in the Reddit thread:

soci::soci_error() that sqlite3 prepare failed..Error: Unable to set up server: sqlite3_statement_backend::prepare: file is not a database for SQL: PRAGMA cache_size=512 (N4soci10soci_errorE)

Has anyone done a migration in the recent years? Seems like something might have changed within the last few and this copy and paste of the DB file will not work anymore?

The big issue here is they're being treated as criminals who committed violent crimes and it's a disgusting sight for everyone involved except racists. A lot of these people are innocent people, some who have been here for over 15-20 years and have entire lives and families in the US.

That's why most of the talks here were around Colombia sending their Presidential plane to pick up their citizens. They weren't rejecting the people, they were rejecting the way in which it was done.

Mexico is also doing similar things rejecting military aircraft, but still allowing the deliver of Undocumented immigrants. Sheinbaum has also been preaching a lot on welcoming everyone home, most of LATAM has had the same perspective from what I've read and seen.

Are US kids’ already dwindling attention spans going to be saved from exposure to the TikTok algorithm? Yes.

You're pinning the blame on tiktok when this also applies to YouTube (shorts and not), Instagram (Reels), Twitter. If we wanted an actual solution here we would implement actual children screen time laws, ironically similar to the under 18 gaming laws that have been implemented in China.

Tiktok is the only platform I've seen legitimate progressive movement on various issues and discussions centering on what that means and takes, in a way that actually fosters a great democratic progressive movement in the US.

From all I've read on this issue, not a single person has provided me with any insight into what or who this benefits that does not also apply to every other social media other than an entirely fabricated myth that they're controlling the algorithms to spread anti US sentiment. Anti-US sentiment definitely exists, but it exists as a discussion around what the US is currently doing. I.e. funding Israel, and as a counterargument to that I am also fed state department interviews on my FYP.

They threatened the same with Seattle and surprise surprise they're still here. They did pass the entire fee onto the consumer though, which sucks ass but at least gig workers are being paid.

The can very easily apply to every single social media.

Might be a hot take, but I for one think we should be far more extremist in our climate fight against corporations.

Just yesterday I was thinking about how I can't open my window for the weekend because of the smoke in the air. This thought process is fucking insane when you step back and think about it, but yet it's becoming our daily lives. No window day today -> no outside day -> oh we only go out at night now etc. Progression is slow so we get used to the hindrances we have to live with.

Just FYI hot is probably the worst way to browse for news and events, I've found top of 6h is far better if you check often, Active if you check every 24 hrs ish.

I've had an account for almost 10 years that I use at least every other day at work, and have seen plenty of questions I CAN answer but apparently don't have the "reputation" to.

Honestly a really dumb system imo.
