The insane part is that since the website is powered by WordPress, the scrapers could access all the posts in a single JSON file.

I was also exasperated by the fucking scrapers reading the same fucking page 20 times a second on posts that didn't get new content from a decade ago so I migrated my blog to Hugo and I was completely shocked to discover that by default every WordPress blog comes with an unauthenticated api that allows literally everyone to get the whole blog content in JSON files. Why the fuck are you wasting my server power to scrape the HTML if you can get a easy JSON??????? Take that fucking JSON and subscribe to the RSS for getting the next post that will be published the next decade. If you refresh that fucking URL 1000 times a day you will get the same fucking stuff, not a new magical article

I mitigated the issue with Wordfence by setting a rule like "more than 2 pages requested within a second = ip banned for a year"

Now, why would WordPress include an unauthenticated api that allows everyone to do a full unauthorized copy of the site in literally seconds is beyond me. There's no valid reason to have it public without any authentication. That API shit doesn't make sense, why by default a website should accept user signups from bots via API

It's insane that 30% POS usage considering that they have 3-4x the fees that other POS vendors are charging

TrueNAS systems with Apps should be upgraded immediately to 24.10.2.2, before June 1st! [...]

After June 1st, Cobia and Dragonfish users with Kubernetes Apps will need to manually back up and restore their application data and configuration to a new Electric Eel installation. The manual update process is more complex and should be avoided.

I don't want to be the asshole but 3 days of a super underpowered VM (it can be a oracle free tier for example) is a drop in the ocean compared to the $100/year/perpetuity that apple wants from devs

Main problem might be the content, as they might think that it's going to be used for piracy

Maybe try to spin it as "Kevin macleod recommendation engine" by filling it with this content https://archive.org/details/incompetech-all-the-music-2020/page/n2/mode/1up

Guys, I found one other Microsoft claim that's even more hilarious:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/windows/copilotplus-claims?tabs=amd

They say that:

  1. Windows 11 PCs are faster than the MacBook air M4 (with the top of the line AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, but only with cinebench. Because a fanless laptop like the MacBook air is perfect for run cinebench the whole day, I'm sure it won't throttle)

  2. They're also faster than the MacBook air M3 (of course, if they were faster than M4...) of course still only with cinebench

  3. And they're faster than the MacBook air M2. Of course only with cinebench. I'm sure it's only a coincidence that they are choosing a heavy benchmark for a fanless laptop instead of a MBP with better airflow. What's next, comparing the result of multicore cinebench on a MacBook air wrapped in cellophane, inside a car parked in the Texan summer?

  4. And that when running cinebench multicore, it's FIVE TIMES FASTER than what you gonna get with a windows 10 PC!!! This claim was so hilarious that I had to find that test from that "reputable" third party and in the PDF they're comparing a Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 with a ThinkPad E590 Intel Core i5-8265U. Of course the Ryzen is faster in multicore benchmark, it has 20 threads vs only 8.... I don't understand why they settled on a simple Ryzen AI 9 365. Why not comparing the 8th gen i5 U series with a threadripper pro 9995x in multicore cinebench? In this way they could claim "it's HUNDRED TIMES FASTER!!!11!"

  5. And the newest copilot+ windows 11 PCs are FOUR TIMES faster in 3D gaming (the catch: only in 3d mark and only if comparing with laptops with integrated graphics)

The claim has a non linked URL where they compare the performance of a core i3 6th gen from a decade ago (presumably with 4gb ram) with a core ultra 5 just out (presumably with quadruple the RAM)

Left: I opened a sealed roll of a filament purchased in 2018 and I printed that rose

Right: I dried that filament in the creality dryer overnight and sent the print again

This pic was taken on 10th April. After drying the filament I put it back in storage and I forgot about it until it exploded today

Some of the preferences are surprising for the CEO of Tesla, a company dedicated to sustainability. Apparently Musk isn’t “interested in conserving fuel” because he “wants to fly as quickly and as direct” as possible.

Surprising? It's 100% expected behavior from the richest asshole in the world

A while ago I bought a roll of transparent petg "the filament" by spectrum. Wonderful, it printed great, shiny, smooth. I loved it.

Then I took advantage of the promotion on the Bambu lab website "4 rolls are discounted + free shipping" and I bought their transparent petg.

I opened the vacuum bag, loaded immediately in the printer and it strings and pops. Settings are correct as the slicer has a dedicated profile for this roll.

Their website says "warning: dry before using" - they mean that it comes already too moist from the factory?

This is a follow-up of my previous post where i observed that enumerating the files on a unraid share with a million files took 10x the time it took vs the same stuff shared via truenas.

I now removed all the drives in the array (new feature of unraid 7) and exclusively have a btrfs "cache" of the same size. It is less "efficient": unraid xfs array with 8x 4tb drives gave 24tb usable space with 2 drives redundancy. Now with btrfs i have 16tb usable space with only 1 drive redundancy. But the SPEED difference is insane.

Before, syncing a 1tb directory using unison, and the contents were already present on both servers: 3 hours

Now: 30 seconds
