William Frank Jr., born on this day in 1931, was an indigenous environmental leader and treaty rights activist known for his use of the "fish-in", a civil disobedience tactic used to win indigenous rights to natural resources.
A Nisqually tribal member, Frank is particularly known for his grassroots campaign for fishing rights on the tribe's Nisqually River. Frank was arrested more than 50 times in the "Fish Wars" of the 1960s and 1970s because of his intense dedication to the treaty fishing rights cause.
The tribal struggle was taken to the courts in "U.S. v. Washington", with federal judge George Hugo Boldt issuing a ruling in favor of the native tribes in 1974. The "Boldt Decision" established the 20 treaty Indian tribes in western Washington as co-managers of the salmon resource with the State of Washington, and re-affirmed tribal rights to half of the harvestable salmon returning to western Washington.

A lot of immigrants I know are from work and they were rich in their home country and are able to be upper class here. I'm talking 7 figure homes and investment properties. Some make the same as I do and their income is used for savings or investment while I use mine to survive off of.
I told them if layoffs are coming, give my name instead because my citizenship isn't tied to my employment. If ICE were to do some sweeps, I'd fight to get them free.

Never ceases to amaze me how little consideration people here can have for historical, material, and dialectical analysis when it comes to POC matters on this site. We could point out how bad gusanos, comprados, etc, etc are and they'll still talk about "blind support". And, of course, the example given is an anti-LGBTQ policy. As many comrades in this thread have said before, for them whiteness come before anything.
I really don't understand what's so fucking difficult about it, either.
For example, I am not a woman or queer. There are comes here where people from those groups talk about the issues they face. I recognize I'm going to have blind spots due to my cishet male privilege. Whenever I see them complaining about men or straights or cis people, I know they are venting in generalizations, not me specifically. I know I can offer sympathy, but not necessarily advice. I know especially not to argue, again, because of the blind spots due to my privilege. I know to believe what they say and accept they are coming from a position of good faith, not trolls posting rage bait or karma farming.
So why then is this so fucking difficult for white people from these groups to give the same considerations to PoC? Why is it whenever PoC make complaints they get defensive? I don't encounter this problem when talking about the other group I belong to, the disabled. The only conclusions I can draw are exactly what's been said: they are white above all else, especially above leftism.
