every single politics thread is just full of liberals pointing out “wow the party of small government huh lol” or “so much for party of personal freedoms huh lol” as if anyone else isnt noticing that republican/GOP marketing is an obvious lie and that even their base knows that
they really think pointing out this obvious hypocrisy is breaking the news to anyone else. and its just like, we get it dude. we all get it. we’ve all known this for a long time, im glad you’re catching up
99% of politics libs espouse or even interact with is just the same “republicans are hypocrites” bullshit over and over.
and by the way, these people are entirely unaware of their own blatant hypocrisies. i should go around saying “party of equality unless you’re trans huh lol” or “party of peace unless you’re palestinian i guess huh lol” but i dont because i know they know they don’t actually believe that shit and i know we all know it so there’s no use in pointing it out unless i wanna be jerked off by other people who already agree with me. guess that explains why thats the extent of liberal resistance to fascism. voting for diet fascism and then calling out obvious hypocrisy like nobody else noticed somehow
Fucking hilarious
why so? I believe in many or most lefist perspectives but I find that most leftists also have common opinions I don't share. So I place myself in that range. My apologies for being impure.
liberalism is right wing. what does it even mean to be somewhere between right and left wing? you’re a centrist, a right leaning centrist who identifies with liberalism and thats why the shit you’re saying rn is so fucking wack. you’re not any type of leftist. which is whatever but you’re claiming to be one while also claiming to identify with fascism-lite. do you see why that doesnt make sense?
What you're saying makes sense. I guess the reason I call myself left-liberal is that I started with liberal values like "everyone's equal," "don't be a bigot," etc. and then reasoned my way toward more leftist stuff like marxism, trade unions, and so on. But those liberal values were more a default of how I was raised than anything else. In contrast, the liberalism of "protect billionaires' private property" I'm rather skeptical of.
But for instance, most leftists agree ACAB, which is surprising to me. I do think the police as an institution needs to be completely reimagined, but leftists are quite insistent that there literally aren't any good cops, since the good ones still cover for the bad ones. But I think that's a rather naïve way to look at things, since that ignores the chain of command. Similarly, leftists tend to scoff at "not all men," which I don't get -- honestly, a lot of the social justice movement bothers me, not in what it's trying to achieve, but rather because I think it needs to appeal to straight white men more to encourage more people to join in the revolution.
Where would you classify me, if not left-liberal?
