It fed it to me pretty quickly. Maybe try searching for a few communist related search terms and liking some posts?

I actually have not used the search functions bc I am so used to tiktok's being shit

Try it out, it's way different. From what I've seen it's really common in China to use the XHS search for finding restaurant recommendations or crafting ideas and stuff like that.
