The consumer has to do all the legwork, usually through the reviews.
SD cards are a minefield on there but they don't give a flying fuck and let counterfeiting on loads of stuff.
this is why i don't use the site (aside from the cruel staff mistreatment), every time i look at something on there i check the reviews and it's like "sold a counterfeit" or "doesn't work" or "cheap knock-off, broke instantly"
i bought some haircutting scissors with like 3 billion 5 star reviews, and uh, they have a gap in the middle. completely unusable because they couldn't make the metal straight (I tried to tighten them, but then they get too stiff). i don't use amazon much, just when i really need to do something and i don't know where else to look, but when I do everything has a "get a gift card if you rate us 5 stars (don't tell amazon about this!!)" insert
