So what's the lore on drag story hours?
As someone who has dressed in women's clothing many a time, reading to children was never really on my radar
I'm not involved in any drag community but from what I know the whole storytime thing was started as a way to show to the general public that they aren't a threat to young children and are just normal folks who happen to enjoy presenting feminine sometimes, which most of those involved with it have achieved, but chuds are choosing to ignore
i mean drag performances don't have to be sexual - drag performers and clowns essentially are pretty similar. it's just another way of presenting in a super over-the-top way to help engage the children
it has a pretty long history in british pantomimes - typically you'll have a "pantomime dame" who is a bloke in drag, and they'll generally be the most exaggerated of the actors.
I don't feel like I implied they were sexual. I was just wondering why storytime as opposed to any other non sexual activity.
Ah, a British comedy classic
honestly i think storytime is common as it's pretty easy to just borrow space in a library or whatever and entertain a few kids for a while. generally the books will be stories about accepting other people or things like that.
