But it picks up Shadow's story from Shadow 05, so I don't think that's true.
What no, does it really? Maria doesn't exist anymore and Shadow works for GUN now which I thought was because it's a new thing. Also if it does, the entire Soleanna storyline creates huge plotholes with regard to Shadow waking up thanks to Eggman... It also rewrites Blaze's backstory completely just for the lulz.
I could be misremembering, although in regards to the GUN thing if you 100% Shadow 05 there is an unlockable level thing where Shadow recieves GUN training.

I could not find a 100% official source saying it was a continuity reboot, it's assumed frequently but... I guess it could be canon to the rest? Sonic Team treats it as canon in Generations but they also had Silver get a new backstory in the IDW Comics recently, so Idk. This continuity is such a fucking mess lmao
I'll take 06 over IDW any day tbh
